In any event group 0 already exists. It’s called excess hand baggage.

The interns have fully taken over the asylum!

So will group 0 get called as a seperate tranche, or will calling groups 1 - 3 now become 0 - 3.

As others have said, it would be better to sort out the existing boarding scrum, rather that add extra levels to it

The idea is that GGLs/Prems will be boarded before general boarding begins. Similar to that utilised at AA.

There has been a somewhat predictable response in this thread - the beneficiaries (i.e. those who are already GGL) are in favour, and the non-beneficiaries (in particular those who are Gold who especially perceive a devaluation of their status) are against.

Anyway, as a GGL, I welcome it and hope it is more broadly rolled out following the pilot.

Calling groups 1, 2 and 3 (consistently) separately would be a much better change…

For who? Not for the GGL group. I think BA are trying to improve the experience for some of their most valued customers.

Absolutely. Although I am GGL, Group O really should be GGL AND First Class.

Could we not slot F passengers into a group 0.5? I'd hate to be GGL and F and usurped by a BCH in First.

Great news and good to see some progress with the premium offer. I understand more coming, not just for GGL.

Whilst I am not GGL and don't fly enough to ever achieve GGL, I do welcome new "perks" to reward and entice frequent flyers.

But given the usual mayhem at most boarding gates on the majority of flights at T5, I think this just adds extra confusion. It is not all due to BA though.

I flew from gate B32 to DUS recently. Arrived 40 minutes before departure to find every passenger sitting down patiently waiting to board. Five minutes later, they called families etc. and several people with children got up to board. Next, Group 1, and similarly, about a dozen people stood up and walked forward. This was repeated for each group as everyone remained seated until their own group number was called. This was a full A320 by the way. I waited and boarded last, expecting to find the usual queue most of the way up the jet bridge. I was wrong. There were maybe 7/8 passengers just at the aircraft door. 30 seconds later, boarding complete. It was poetry in motion!

I mentioned this to the lead cabin crew and she said, I quote, "a lot of the flights to Germany are like this. This is what happens when people listen to what they are being told".

I think BA really should look at space around the gates, especially the north and south end of T5A, gates 1-7 and 18-24. It's like Piccadilly Circus most days!

I'm GGL so this is nice if done right. I'm at a point that all I wish is BA can get the basics done right. Things like:

- web site that lets you book flights without breaking
- app and web site shows bookings properly
- my in app membership card shows proper status (it recently starts to show Gold occasionally)
- improve basic lounge food
- manage check-in counters at outposts so I never have to wait for 45 mins to check in...(happened more than a few times)

Genuine question.. will pre-boarding (kids etc) be before or after group zero?

if its like AA then in front of pre-boarders, but given that the gate area generally becomes a zoo I suspect ggls, premiers, families with young children and assisted passengers will all be held in the area after the boarding pass scan waiting for the go-ahead from the crew to board.
