For the past two days I've been trying to book award travel for Tokyo - New York - San Francisco - Tokyo.... Can select all flights and then I just get an page that says error - brilliant! The old site had its issues but at least I could book a simple award trip.... Will call tomorrow to try and book it - not liking new site at all....

New site is terrible in booking and searching.
Not to mention it's soooo slow.

Only good at cosmetic appearance.

Use the old site, ual.com, if you prefer
If you want to use the old site, as mentioned upthread, you clear the cache and history on your browser and type in "ual.com". This should work.

Force google flights to use "new" UA.com?
How do you get google flights to use the new United.com booking page instead of the old? The issue is that you don't know for sure what the PQMs are going to be on the old, while the new calculates everything for you. One of the few changes I like!
Google flights did randomly go to the "new" booking page... once. Can't seem to replicate it.
But it is a very cool trick, using Google flights to accomplish what you can't manage to do by yourself (or on the phone, apparently) with ua.com.

Just encountered the new site for the first time yesterday. Gosh, it's really bad. Indeed, I agree with the commenter who said that the old site was preferable even cosmetically: the new one has the look and feel of Windows 8. I've only tried to use the new page for a couple of paid reservations, so I have not yet encountered some of the dysfunctional features noted by others in this thread, but why on earth do they now ask you whether you want to see how many miles you'll get for the trip, with the default answer being "No"? Surely the number of customers who will want this information is greater than those who will not want it, and it doesn't take up much space so I can't imagine anyone objecting to it. But United's preference for not showing this information seems quite strong: a couple of times I chose "Yes" and then went back and made unrelated changes in the proposed itinerary, only to find that the web page had re-defaulted to "No" so that I had to start over again in order to see the mileage. Quel dsastre.

On the old site all the data entry fields fit within my browser window, no scrolling required.

Noting that the new site is a bit buggy, then asking why they only focused on some pages in the first phase; you've answered your own question. As much as we like to pretend otherwise, rolling out the website all at once without bugs simply isn't feasible.
Companies that can execute on a large scale change like that tend to be tech companies, whose core competency is... well.. technology. I don't fault UA for rolling out what they can when they can, since I think we can all agree that technology is not their core competency.
A lot of what I'm reading on this thread is fairly standard change resistance: acknowledging that the old experience was outdated, but disliking the incremental steps being made toward a better experience because they're incremental and imperfect. Two steps forward and one backward is often interpreted negatively, as I'm seeing here.

This thread is full of multiple reports of failures at the most basic function of this website...finding flights and selling a ticket.
United is a huge company with significant IT resources. This should have been designed / implemented much better.

Sorry, but this new website is a pig. Nothing at all about condescending "change resistance" is applicable. It just is a bad design / functionality.

It's not that people resist to change. Rather, the new site is simply horrendous.
Why on earth did UA design this pig?

There is certainly something to be said for preference. If some people like the new design, and can wait for the bugs to be fixed, I have no problem with that. But to label it as change resistance seems a little simplistic.

New website SUCKS
2) I know that United is going to pull out of JFK in October, but the current website doesn't show any Saver or Standard awards from JFK after the pull out date.
3) I haven't tried to book on the new website.
4) Partner awards that are on the old site do not appear on the new one.
5) Why does it show 30 hours flights eastbound to Europe from EWR before a 9 hour connection?
I would have to be a very optimistic person to believe there is going to be a payoff for this rather horrific offering. Not that we should be shocked that United has bungled badly YET AGAIN. Whether you are pmCO or pmUA the image I keep seeing is a company unable to do anything right. Well their safety record is commendable, I suppose, and can't really scoff at that. As a GS one is sort of manually coddled through the no-man's land of United's generic-ly bland world held together by bandaids and perpetuated by lack of vision or imagination. The number of times in the past month I have to call up GS to get - what wasn't yesterday required - done - it's pretty much for every flight I now take. This website was supposed to be a real improvement and I half believed it given its long delayed release. I understand we have a new CEO and he needs time - can OSCAR please fire the head of IT and PAY UP to get this fixed FAST. So all customers can decide whether United plans to just keep playing games with us, or show that real change is a foot. Screw the shareholders for a minute, would you? And in the meantime go back to the old site. What the hell is wrong with this company? Flight operations abysmal. Website that doesn't work. Awful food. At a time when United is making record profits (thanks in big part to oil prices)? For the first time (and flame me if you want to) I really am not sure these bunch of jokers who call themselves management have the capacity, imagination and certainly not the charisma and street smarts, to deal with what seems terrifyingly akin, to me as a customer anyway, as a catastrophic nuclear reactor meltdown. I really have to say RESPECT is due to the frontline employees who for the most part, at least, keep the system lurching along day after day. I really want United to sort itself out, but in the last three years I have experienced very little indication FLYER FRIENDLY has any sort of inkling how dysfunctional they truly are. ONE LAST WORD OF ADVICE if anyone is actually at the helm or in charge - please keep those call centers in Detroit and Honolulu open until this website fiasco is leveled out. And staff them up.

The new United website is just awful... yes it looks a bit more up to date, but if your website can't book a simple roundtrip ticket, it is near useless.
I have two GPU that I am trying to use and purposefully pick the Thanksgiving weekend. One good thing about United's website is the ability to select GPU as your upgrade instrument and they will automatically price it out using the correct fare and tell you if they have availability. For point to point flight, it is easy, but once you add a domestic segment, the whole system just screws up. For example, there are upgrades on the SFO-HND flight on 11/27, but if I search LAX to HND, they can't even give me GPU eligible fares. United is doing married segment, which makes things ten times more difficult.
Europe is even worst... there are plenty of upgrades, but once I add a domestic segment, it just won't show me those GPU eligible fares - even if I force a fare code on the fare field. It is almost like UA doesn't offer V or W fares from LAX to AMS or LAX to BRU.
Same with SFO-HKG/SFO-TPE on 11/27, there are upgrade seats, but once I search LAX-HKG/TPE on 11/27, they keep on giving me the lowest fares available that are not eligible for GPU upgrades, and they just can't show me a thru flight despite there are upgrade availability on individual LAX-SFO and SFO-HKG/TPE segment.
I tried to use the search by fare class - V,W to force them to come up with GPU eligible fares, but it was no use. They kept on giving me those cheap L or K fares that are not upgrade eligible.
The most ridiculous part is that I am searching for a simple roundtrip SFO to KIX for early December. There are upgrades on Dec 2 SFO to KIX, but I can't price out the return. They keep on putting out those one stop fares via ICN and not the nonstop flights even I change the return date. There is not even upgrade available on ICN-SFO. When I force it to nonstop, nothing showed up. Sometimes the fares change when you do the same search again a few minutes later. It is just frustrating.

Multi-City bookings are terrible! It doesn't show all available flights for each leg, it only gives me the worst ones.
However, I will give the new site this: it will actually try searching for flights in a multi-city (6 destinations), instead of crapping out like the old site.
