Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

As to other routes NO ONE KNOWS!

Does anyone know if it is possible to "connect" two window seats facing each other, eg. 3A/4B on 777W? I saw some old literature / news clippings which mentioned this was possible but have not seen it in practice anywhere.

Yes, you can slide the screen away so that there is a direct line of sight between the two opposing seats.

Thanks for your insight.

Edit: checking EF it looks, for most days, through late October it is a non-Qsuite flight
This is my world. I have another PHL > DOH next week and returning the following week. No QSUITE either way.

This used to be QSuites consistently, now it’s rarely ever one. I haven’t checked FlightAware, but all planes have been non-QSuite for as far back as you have stated.

Oh well. I still need to fly them because it’s the most direct and shortest routes.

Can't reserve any QA seat?!

Ok, so my boyfriend and I redeemed Alaska miles and for one PDX- LAX- DOH- MLE and return MLE - DOH - SFO- PDX each. Biz class except for the domestic flights, but those are short, whatever.

After reading the advice here and elsewhere, I called QA to reserve seats. Ideally I wanted a middle QSuite but I just wanted seats in general.

Website said $92 to reserve seat. I thought, "well, ok, seen that with BA, so sucks but there you go." But then it wasn't showing anything other than rows 11 - onward for the DOH- MLE flight and the return MLE- DOH (QA flights 672 and 673). I thought that was weird and didn't correlate with the seat maps I'd seen. I also wanted to link my boyfriend and my itineraries in their system.

Also I could look at the seat map for the outbound flights but not the inbound.

So I called QA. I called a couple times and got some weird and conflicting information from them, including:

- You can't book or reserve seats online if you're traveling having redeemed points. It can only be done at the airport. Considering I have been reading about people who call and have the center QSuites seats released and knowing those people are traveling on points, I don't understand.

- Even though the website lets you click on a seat you can't actually buy it?

- Flights 672 and 673 were an additional $70 for a business class seat---apparently that flight has first class which is why I could only see rows 11- on.

- I had no idea why I couldn't see the seats on the return flight.

This seems really fishy to me and I maybe just ended up speaking to two incredibly unhelpful people? but I don't know. We aren't going until late January so I have some time but this seems ridiculous.

Anyone know where I can get some accurate info? I reached out to QRSuport on Twitter and fingers crossed.

Thank you!!

I'm sure someone will quickly let you know that it's QR for the airline code, not QA. Oh, maybe that is me

Not sure if AS has different agreement with QR, but with an AA miles booked flight I was able to call up and get the middle Q-Suite seats assigned without any fees. Maybe call up AS and ask if they're able to request the seats for you.

A number of redemption tickets do have difficulty in being able to choose seats through any website, including my latest booked with Asia Miles. A lot of people have success using their PNR on Malaysia Airlines or Finnair’s Manage My Booking section of their website.

Regarding you seeing nothing from Row 11 onwards on the DOH-MLE-DOH leg, I would bet my money that your flight is being operated by one of the Cathay Pacific dry-leased B777 aircraft. These aircraft do not have QSuites, they are reverse herringbone.

Regarding the Row 11 issue, you are flying on a leased Cathay plane, and the business class starts in row 11. Rows 1 & 2 are First class, and then it starts in row 11 for Business.

I have flown numerous times from USA-MLE via DOH on AA miles (in Business Class) and have always been able to get a seat by either calling QR directly (you have to have your QR PNR, not the AS PNR), or, via DM on Twitter, or by using either the Malaysia Air or Royal Jordanian websites (someone else mentioned this above). But keep in mind, QR usually blocks the center Qsuites, so you may or may not have access to them if you try to book on the websites. I have always been able to get access to those seats by calling or DM though.

I have never heard of having to pay $70 (or any amount) to get a seat assignment with miles booking....maybe this is new?

Have a hopeful ex-USA QSuite trip in mind for next summer. Although I know equipment swaps are likely, I wanted to maximize my chances. I did my best to keep up-to-date with current routes based on this thread and elsewhere. Would this be a reasonable likelihood ranking based on A351 consistency and prioritization of 'premier' routes?

LAX(740,742) > SFO(738) > JFK(704,702) > MIA(778)/DFW(730)/IAH(714) >>> DFW(732)/ORD(724)/IAD(708,710) > ORD(726)/PHL(728)/SEA(720)/BOS(744)?

Are flights from JFK with 777-300s still a better bet than the A351 ones from MIA/DFW/IAH? Previous discussion made it sound like QR wouldn't want to pull QSuites from JFK, but I'm not sure if that's less likely than an A351 being swapped to a 777?

Up until this year, I would have said the ORD/DOH was a pretty good bet. We've used that route for 6 years, a variety of flight days and months - all Qsuite. However not so sure anymore. Coming up for the next couple of months, I regret booking weeekend flights. Saturday in particular seems to have been hit in the schedule with a switch to non-Qsuite. Going forward I might try a weekday flight when I can but accept that this route isn't any better than the rest.

Yes, I am on that flight this weekend and was hoping it would change back, but nothing so far. We were baited-and-switched. But I cannot go on another day, and going via another US gateway is not worthwhile, an additional transfer is always riskier.

Same - we fly in two weeks. I've been watching your flight looking for a hopeful sign. It isn't like the non-Q is that bad and I'm really glad I'm not flying through LHR on BA right now but we have certainly been spoiled with the Qsuites

"Open" J seats are not that different from what AI has, and they are cheaper.

Can anyone enlighten me abt our Options when a January 2023 4 Segment flight all originally booked as Q Suites has the initial ex USA Segment switched to a Non Q Segment---discovered on manage My Booking---------we understood we could switch to ANY other Origin within 500 miles----i.e Boston to JFK or even Montreal----but not making any progress with Qatar----assumed this would be an Involuntary Change?----no other changes would be needed

Thanks in advance
