Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Hi all I am a little late to book a trip for in a couple weeks so seat selection for Q Suites is limited. I can be in the front J section which I much prefer but I would have to take a B or J seat and not have the true window seat thus having the door very close to the seat.
I was just worried as it looks like it could be an easy and constant arm/elbow bump? Or even maybe a bit claustrophobic with the door so close. If i want an A or K I have to go to the rear cabin last row which is not ideal for me, closer to the lavs & economy.
Would be curious to get opinions as to taking the preferred location or the true window seat?
Also, i doubt this will happen as travel is getting busier but will the FA's allow a solo passenger to use the middle seats and make a double bed or even if its empty after take off do they frown on this?

QR FAs will let you use a center pair if there is one open after boarding. You may want to ask early, before someone beats you to it. As for better window seats, I'd suggest setting an EF seat alert for all the good window seats. Even though your flight is in a couple weeks, someone could cancel.
Do you recommend a true window seat in the rear cabin or the non true window seat in the forward cabin? I much prefer the forward cabin but is it claustrophobic sitting in the non aisle with the door right on your arm, elbow body etc? Seems a litlte tight looking.
Update: Looked now and there are 2 open seats in the forward cabin that are true window seats. 3A or 7K. I dunno if AA just told me wrong when i booked but I could have sworn I looked and they were all taken the other day.
So now I have to decide between the Row I prefer, 3 or the arm rest on my right. If I take Row 7 do I risk losing out on some food items? I have read that many times QR runs out of a few things since the menu is extensive. I want to let them know what I want for both meals upfront and also have my cheese plate and dessert held. I prefer 7K to have table on my right but may do 3 to be close to the front to order first.

Cool I can try that. Only used EF once and it didnt help me. It told me a seat opened but it hadnt. I will try it again though.

The supply of your order seems random. On one flight the rear cabin crew took orders very early and the forward crew later. We missed out on one thing. Another time using the forward middle quad, husband's order was taken first by the crew on that side and mine was taken later. He missed out and I didn't. So it's random. We always pick rear window seats now.

I've flown QR in business quite a lot and rarely have they run out of anything. The few times they did it was later in the flight. But if you want to be sure, if the flight departs DOH you can use Manage My Booking's Pre-Select Dining from two weeks before the flight. It's in the same area as choosing a special dietary meal. For flights to DOH, only the special meals are there, but for flights from DOH there's a tab with Pre-Select Dining. For flights to DOH you can ask an FA during boarding.

If EF notified you that a seat had become available, it was available at that time. Someone likely grabbed it before you tried.
It's possible they were taken but the people switched seats or flights.

I'll have both to & from Doha flights so I will have to check that out on the flight from Doha. I actually have 2 flights from Doha, one to ZRH in F on the CX 777. So excited to be on that plane and see what QR does for F. Although I know their J is so good it might not be much of a difference. Hoping at least its a different menu than what I will see on the Q Suites flight or certainly from what J on that same 777 to ZRH would get.
Btw, on the pre ordering you mentioned, I can order every item I want so the dessert, hold a cheese plate, both entrees for dinner & breakfast as well as a mezze plate? Or is it just the entre available on the pre order?
I want to be able to have 3 diff meals since its a 16 hour flight. I want to have dinner right away then sleep then a Snack and finish with a full breakfast. That could possibly be what 10 diff items of food. The FA will really let me go over all 10 things and note which meal service I want them in and the order I want them in? Thats amazing if it can be like that. I am so used to AA. I gotta get to the ME more lol
Oh and is the Q Suites special Snack/Lite bites menu that I think I used to see in reviews back and available?

I think the reason I was worried a little was I had read a couple reviews where cheese plates and desserts had run out. Having a cheese course is especially important to me and also their cheese plate looks really good unlike AA's jack cheese & orange cheddar.

Pre-Select Dining is only for the main of the first meal, not the starters nor dessert nor any of the other meals. But you can indicate your order and timing for those when the FA takes your main meal order.

Personally, I've been disappointed in QR F. I find the seats less private than Qsuite, and the food isn't that much better. Main advantages are the huge lavatories for F on the A380, and access to Al Safwa lounge in Doha.

Cool thanks and on the lack of privacy the A380 seats really do seem very open. In fact even AA F 777 seems a bit more private despite not having a shell to the seat. I am going to do the ex CX 777 which will be far more private. Never been to Zurich so will check it out for a night and then get to Paris, where I was needing to get to. I know I lose the huge lavs & bar but I love that CX seat and only 1 other person on the aisle.

Its a bit confusing but first of course is just some plane types (and the site will of course show you the plane you are on) have or dont have Q Suites. And then of course there are quite a few that have Q and dont have Q. There is a little square that comes up and will say "Tour Q Suites" but if you have 2 flights on same booking you might not know which its referring to. There is a little thing at the bottom though that will say "Q Suites on this flight". Looks like a magnifying glass. More than that you can just do a dummy booking and it doesnt take too long on QR site tbh and you can see the seat map and know for sure b/c you will see/it will say that there are both forward & rear facing seats.
