Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

As to other routes NO ONE KNOWS!

A couple of times this week I have constructed dummy bookings on the QR site that include QR 728 PHL-DOH on June 17. When I proceed through seat selection, it says seat selection is unavailable (though seat selection is possible for other segments in the trip). The first time I saw this, I thought it might indicate a change to non-Q Suite on that segment. But if that's the explanation, it's sure taking a while for the new seat map to be loaded. Anyone know what's going on here?

All seats are assigned or blocked---QR blocks all center section QSuite seats to leave flexibility for groups of 2 or 4. If you have a booking (sounds like you do not), you can call and ask that they unblock a seat for you in the center section. They will usually do it.

If you do not have a booking, there is no need to do dummy bookings, you can see the seat map on expertflyer.com at no charge if you have a free account---just proceed as if setting up a seat alert and you will be shown the seat map.

That happened with my flight as well but Q suites were still in operation. Same is happening with return flight. Expert flyer to the rescue.

Has the Qsuite retrofit essentially stalled? Or is it the wiki that's not updated?

I have noticed some QSuites equipped 777 only have 6 rows. Is this new? Haven’t seen it before.

No this isn't new. There are 2 versions of 77Ws with Qsuites, one with 24, the other with 48.

My NRT-DOH flight is the day after tomorrow and it looks like it's been changed back to QSuite! I was even able to pick a seat, which I hadn't been able to before, so here's hoping it doesn't get changed back.

My flights MEL-xDOH-MAN in mid September have changed from A35-1000 & 787-8 to 777-300ER for both legs.

Thank you! I was wondering why all of the middle rows were crossed out. My mother and I are flying together on two separate itins.

Never flown with QR before. What is the US call center experience like? They have limited hours to call, that much I know.

Just curious, did you book using Avios? I've been looking for 3 pax business flying out from MEL around mid September towards anywhere in Europe (and even US cities) without any luck at all. They are either N/A or costing 2x Avios.

Maybe this have been discussed before... but I just realized that my DOH-NRT fight in July which still has the 2-2-2 77W seat map is now selling as QSuite on the website. You would think they would sync the actual seat map with what product they are selling...

As discussed on another current thread, there are usually only two x1 avios J seats available on any particular flight. Looking for 3 passengers will price everyone into the third person fare at x2, if available.

Search for 2 passengers first (or 1) and accept you may need to pay more avios or cash for the third (and second) person.

A workaround (2 x J Avios) is to have the 3rd person fly first - doesn't work from Melbourne, as you need an a380 so start from Sydney, I'm doing this for me family... you can all hang out in the bar at the back of the plane... that said i booked my 3 tix in March 2022 for a Feb 2023 flight (LHR-DOH-SYD) return... so trying to find September now will be tricky

Looks like equipment swap in my July Qr728 flight. 773 has no qsyites, right? Has the A350 been removed from PHL going forward?

shorty answer is nobody knows but PHL does have a mixture of q suite and non-qsuite lately. Not even JFK guarantees the q suite.
