Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Is row 8 bad, the first rearward facing QSuite in the second cabin compartment next to the lavatories? 777-300ER.
On my flight it's a choice between rows 8 or 10 anymore. Should've grabbed that 3A while it was there. Thanks.

8A and 8K are my go-to seats on a 42J Qsuite 77W. I've never found the proximity to the lavatories annoying.

Anyone know why there are only three lavatories for QSuites on the A35K? It was not that big of a problem, but definitely annoying having to wait for a lav to become free on a full flight in J, especially if flying in the smaller J cabin. Definitely weird since there are more seats on A35K (46) than on the 77W (42) that has four lavs in J.
Of course the lav ratio is not as bad as LH’s A359 that has only two lavs in J for 48 seats.

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this (did a search, but couldn't identify anything).
I got an email from Qatar Airways telling me that my booked flight that had Qsuites was having an equipment change so that it would no longer be Qsuites (and telling me to select my new seat, or contact them if I had any issues). Sure enough, I logged in to manage my flight, and could see that I was now on a A350-900 (from JFK to DOH) that now had a 1-2-1 seating configuration.
Hopped on the phone and was on hold for 90 minutes. When I finally talked to a customer service rep, he told me that he was seeing that it was Qsuites flight. I was telling him that I think he's mistaken, so I log back in and go to seat selection... and the flight is now back to a Qsuites seating configuration.
Is this something like an operational substitution of aircraft (that sent out a notification) that they then un-did or reshuffled, and then it's back to being a Qsuites flight?

Probably. Pre-pandemic, QR was famous for changing equipment many times (it still happens but less often).

77L Row 8
I've got a QR 77L flight booked as an AA codeshare, which is making it impossible to get EF quad seats assigned. AA can't assign blocked seats, and after waiting on hold for many hours accross multiple days, when I finally reached a QR agent, he insisted that it wasn't possible for QR to assign seats on a flight sold as a codeshare (I wonder if there might be two QR PNRs, one showing the flight as a codeshare and the other, a limited services PNR, showing it as prime).
In looking at the 77L seatmap in EF, row 8 looks unusual: it shows there being eight seats in this row:

Call back because that is BS. I am AA exec platinum and called a few days ago because I booked with AA miles a trip to the Maldives for Jan. The flight DOH-MLE is also a 77L and I called specifically to get my seats, and it was done without question, so AA does have access to the seats.

QR site absolutely blows !!! And they never answer their phones. I am on 3 days of simply just trying to get through to them but i get mad after 5 hours and usually just hang up. I just want to SEE my reservation with out the stupid Contact Info glitch thing that wont let me see the full screen & page showing my res. Twitter was no help. RJ is fine to see the res (but you cant change seats, at least not on award travel) but I'd like to see it on the airline for which i am travelling. Coincidently just had to call Cathay for something, 2 minute hold time..
