Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seatA video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.
They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.
The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.
All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.
Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

I probably should have added that I was flying solo. But I did find the QSuite to be slightly claustrophobic.
If you were flying as a couple or in a quad and went for the groups of seats with the partitions down, I imagine that’s great.
I felt a bit detached from everything, not in a good way.
I think it makes it harder for the crew to see if you need a top-up, or for things to be cleared away, etc. I probably used the ‘call crew’ button to my seat at least 8 times - which I prefer not to do, if I can just catch someone’s eye (and no that wasn’t for booze, it was mostly for water of all things!!).
Also, I can’t recall what the storage is like in the reverse herringbone seats (this has been my second J experience since the pandemic) - but I don’t recall having an issue before… I couldn’t get my UK 12 shoes in to the storage space.
Edit (am on a train and hit submit as it bounced!): There were niggly things too, like the crew seemed a bit moody, and at least 3/4 children who were way too loud throughout the flight - making it impossible to sleep - but I appreciate this is nothing to do with the product. It just takes away from the ambience and first feel for it.

Kids were in J - I think you should regularly expect families to be travelling in QSuite. It’s a great setup for them from that point of view.

This is a new one… Booked a flight on Qatar app from PHL to BLR 05AUG-12AUG.
When booking the app has a pop up stating that PHL>DOH and DOH>PHL are both QSuites (728/727 respectively).
Purchased the tickets and when I went to select seats it is NOT QSuite (expertflyer confirms this).
Thoughts? I still have 23 hours for a full refund.

Is a seat that is blocked (but not for quad/double reasons), for example 1A on a 777, available at OLCI? When checking luggage at the airport? If not, can I switch to it on board if it remains empty, or is it used for crew rest or something?
Asking because there are no side seats open, only middle section.
Many thanks!

Hi all! I'm planning a trip for our fam of 4 and I'm wondering how likely additional award space is to come available? I can book 2 seats now, but I worry that 2 more award seats for the same flights (June 2023) won't come available. Do I stand a fair shot at making this happen?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Just make sure to get one side of the two middle seats so have direct aisle access from either side.

I will say…. Having flown QSuite and just recently non-QSuite from PHL>DOH>PHL. While the QSuite is certainly more private, I did find the 2-2-2 seats to be quite comfortable.

Leisure J demand has boomed on all airlines for that reason and replaces lagging business demand.

Difference between A/K and B/J seats?
Hi QR people,
New to this airline - seems like A/B and J/K seats in Q-Suites are all technically window seats? It's just that the A/K seats are right up against the windows whereas the B/J seats have the table between the seat and the window? Are there advantages/disadvantages to each seat besides whether you prefer to sit facing forward or backward? Is there more privacy with the A/K seats? Do the A/K seats feel more cramped because they're up against the window?
Thanks!

Sorry I wasn't clear in the first version of my post. I wasn't saying J was better than Y (which it of course is). I was trying to say QSuite feels more protected from neighbors' breaths than non-QSuite (for Covid purposes). Probably an illusion, but still...
