Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

It will (eventually) be across the fleet in B777s and A350s. There will be a new seat development for the B787s as this new seat can’t fit in the 787.

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230 (probably going 3-4-3 in Y, from 217)
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?

I flew back from Bali last night, my first experience of the Q suite. My outbound had been on the A330, a narrow and rather uncomfortable seat but one I was still able to get 6 hours of rest in.

I had 1K and the 1:05am departure was way past my bed time so I was shattered.

My initial reaction was that this was a very claustrophobic space, but I came around to the privacy benefits when the door was closed, or rather when it would close. Rear facing seats appear to have a problem with keeping the door closed when climbing.

The seat however was simply uncomfortable and sleeping was a real struggle. It was not good and things went from bad to worse when almost 2 hours of turbulence bounced us around over Malaysia.

I only ate breakfast which was excellent ( French toast) and had some pink champagne when I boarded which my wife liked, but I thought was awful and left 3/4 of it.

The crew were just what you wanted on a overnight flight, engaging, efficient and quiet!

The flight arrived ahead of schedule and I went to Al Safwa as my connection to London was in F. That’s another story.

As for Q suite, well for me the jury is still out. My flight may have had an old seat, whatever it wasn’t comfortable, in sleep mode. The space grew on me but I’d probably fly forward facing next time

Hi! I'm looking to experience the Q Suite for the first time in Jan '23 with QR 946 and QR 945 from DOH to SIN and back. I know it's still a long way to go but both flights have been marked to be flown with A350 and I've understood that many of those are currently (and most likely will be still in Jan) grounded. What's the chance of still getting a Q Suite with a 777 or the chance that the rest of the A350's will keep flying? Should I think something different / wait? Thanks for the help!

I was on QR946 in June and it was an A350-1000, so Q-Suites (as all of the -1000 are Q-Suites I believe). Absolutely lovely experience Think they aren't grounding the -1000s, just the -900s right?

I booked QR744 (BOS - DOH) for Feb 2023 which is currently showing as non-Qsuites. However, all flights until Aug 31 are shown as Qsuites and then it suddenly switches to non-Qsuites from Sept. 1 onwards. Anyone know why that is and if there's a chance it may switch back to Qsuites?

It's far too early to tell. You will know for sure once the aircraft leaves DOH

QR727 leaving today just changed an hour or so ago from 2-2-2 to QSuite. I’ll celebrate once we actually board the plane in a few hours.

What do they do with seat assignments? Try to keep the same seat numbers, assign seats randomly, or let pax find out and do it themselves?

A couple, for example, might take two on a side in a 2-2-2, but want two in the middle on a QSuite.

I kept my same seat assignment 3F), but then moved. I expect that was because my original seat matched up with a Q suite. Other seat assignments would have to be moved to accommodate.

No complaints, because I was able to get an “A” suite closest to the window.

We had the same thing happen on QR727 DOH-PHL. Looking forward to hearing your outcome. Our flight is in Mid-Oct.

Just booked a long way out on QR807 NRT to DOH. Currently it's 2-2-2 / non-QSuite. Not booked until June 2023 so hopefully it changes by then.

How did you see availability? Currently not seeing anything on American or British Airways searches.

It showed on BA and I called AA to book. While you cannot see it online on AA, agents can.

Looks like ICN might be getting the cut, or I just got unlucky in my booking.

My Sep 11 DOH-ICN QR858 is showing QSuites, but the return Sept 25 QR859 is the 2-2-2 layout on 777W. It used to both be Qsuites up to... earlier this week I wanna say?

Recently took both legs from MNL-JFK. Was able to reach an agent that was kind enough to confirm the equipment change with her supervisor and quickly change the itinerary to a Qsuite-equipped one. I'd have to say that calling multiple times to find the right agent willing to help sort out the problem is the hardest challenge.

Hi everyone,

I have an upcoming Qsuite trip from CPT-DOH-ATL. Currently the seat maps reflect Qsuite but with everything going on at Qatar Airways, I am concerned for an equipment swap. My booking was done via Cathay Pacific Asia Miles as an award booking on Qatar metal. Does anyone know, regarding the Qatar one time change policy(based on equipment swap), if I contact Qatar Airways, would they allow the change to a Qsuites equipped plane?

I see many people posting about Qatar allowing the change but I have no idea whether these people have paid revenue tickets or award based tickets. If someone out there was able to change based on an award ticket, do you know if they allowed you to change to a different route(say DFW or IAH) as they constantly have the Qsuite product?

Thank you,
Ryan
