Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

It will (eventually) be across the fleet in B777s and A350s. There will be a new seat development for the B787s as this new seat can’t fit in the 787.

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230 (probably going 3-4-3 in Y, from 217)
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

Which routes have Qsuites?
Details and changes can be found in the various recent threads.

As to other routes NO ONE KNOWS!

I repeat NO ONE KNOWS!! so do not ask!

What aircraft are fitted with Qsuites?

36/48 77W: 75%
10/38 359: 26%

short sleeve PJs? Hadn't heard of those before. Did they give choice between short & long sleeve? I like the FIFA logo on there.

I have flown numerous times from USA-MLE via DOH on AA miles (in Business Class) and have always been able to get a seat by either calling QR directly (you have to have your QR PNR, not the AS PNR), or, via DM on Twitter, or by using either the Malaysia Air or Royal Jordanian websites (someone else mentioned this above). But keep in mind, QR usually blocks the center Qsuites, so you may or may not have access to them if you try to book on the websites. I have always been able to get access to those seats by calling or DM though.

I have never heard of having to pay $70 (or any amount) to get a seat assignment with miles booking....maybe this is new?
Called them tonight and spoke with someone who actually seemed to know what she's doing. Unlocked the center Qsuite (but since my companion and I are traveling on different codes I can't do his seat, so will have to wait until he gets a chance to log in ). The fee to reserve the seat appears to be new. Could pay $94 for LAX - DOH and/or DOH-SFO and $72 for DOH- MLE and MLE- DOH. This is just to reserve a seat. It's free if you want to wait until 24 hours beforehand but I'm far too much of a control freak for that. I'm wondering if this is because we are redeeming miles?

I had never seen short sleeve either. No choice of long sleeve was offered. It’s definitely a FIFA theme…I just added another picture up in my original post of the back of the shirt. Check it out!

I am glad you are enjoying your flight, and I admit to being jealous because my own flight on same route this weekend will not have QSuites.

I should note, however, that nothing in your photos has anything to do with QSuite (the topic of this thread) specifically, as opposed to long haul business class in general, and that there are other threads whose readers might be interested in these photos:

Is there an event going on in Qatar during Mid-Late July 2023? Looking through BA for DOH-XXX business awards, I can see sporadic~plentiful availability on nearly all QSuites routes up until July 6th '23, but then literally everything goes dark afterwards for at least 2 weeks.

This might be my inexperience, but it reminds me of the World Cup blackout for Nov-Dec of this year. Not sure if it's expected for availability to populate later and I should be patient or if I should start considering other options now. Thanks for any advice!

Not just awards, but also regular tickets, typically go on sale about 11 months in advance. So as of today August 4, it is not surprising that bookings will "go dark" around July 6 2023, not just for 2 weeks but for all eternity.

Those are cool. My son would love them. Hope we get those on our flight this next week.

BA currently allows you to book flights up until July 24, 2023. So, it would seem that its more than just being too far out.

If you go to Qatar's site, you can search for and book flights on up until August 4, 2023.

Tthe 11 months/330 days is not for all carriers. I know that for those booking via AA, it must be within 330 days.

For carriers like Qantas, they did sell tickets (including award tickets) further out than that, I think it was ~360 days. I can remember people complaining that it was hard to use AA miles to Australia because Qantas members had a head start on booking the award seats.

Ugh. We're travelling as a family of 3 and had a quad setup where up until now there was no one seated in the 4th spot. Looks like they just put someone there even though there are still 7 other seats unassigned on our flight. We were hoping we'd get luck and have use of that spare 4th seat. oh well, at least its still Q suites.

Just woke up and checked the inbound aircraft to EDI that I will be taking back to DOH later today and was met with a pleasant surprise when I checked the seatmap on Expertflyer. A7-ALZ, Q-suite fitted A359. The EDI route doesn’t see these often 😬

Thanks for the help everyone!

I'm not sure if it's the QR calendar not opening awards to BA because I can see economy availability on most routes after July 6th, but maybe the biz seats could be operating under different rules? Given the hype with the new partnership, I surprisingly couldn't find anything online on this (my google-fu could just be bad though), but it's possible QR biz space opens 335 days on BA?

I'll check again later today to see if space opens up on the coming calendar day. Someone with more experience might be able to puzzle this out via ExpertFlyer availability too?

DOH-PHL question

Any rhyme or reason to when QR puts a Qsuites aircraft on the DOH-PHL route? It seems as it's a hit or miss.

It is supposed to be a Qsuites flight but easily more than half the time it gets swapped out to a 2-2-2.

I've got a flight later in the year back from TBS that's supposed to be Qsuites and just want to get an idea as to whether that's realistically going to happen or not.

Thanks

It totally depends - there really is no rhyme or reason. It's possible that they prioritise QSuite on other routes, or they just work with whatever fleet they have available. It really isn't worth overthinking like the other person did with their in-depth US analysis above on the subject or constantly checking FR24 for whatever frame operates the flight.

Flying out of PHL tonight. No QSuite. Returning next week, no QSuite. This will be my 4th PHL>DOH and DOH>PHL with no QSuite. No Philly love!
