The food on the YYZ to TPE flight in Royal was not up to the standard. Even the service was poor compared to other times. The same with the boarding procedures and the new Pyjajamas with the hoodie, I did not like it. I thought the previous on was of much a higher quality and design.

Could you elaborate on the poor service and what went wrong with the boarding? That’s pretty rare for EVA, aside from some of the galley catfights that were reported years ago.

I have to add that BR's food out of YYZ is always mediocre and the service is reactive rather than proactive. Perhaps this is related to the departure timing of the flight - 2am? However, if you requests anything from the crew, they will always comply. Otherwise, they will usually stay in the galley throughout the flight.

Can anyone share what the other East Coast flights to TPE are like in terms of service and food? I can't imagine them to be too different if it is midnight departures.

This was why I was disappointed in the boarding. Normally they are extremely organized as you say. Maybe it was the Gate as it was E79. No one seems to know where the queue was. The Zone 1 was on the normal concourse while the zone 2 inside the alley way at Gate 79. Zone 3 and the rest was bunched up on the opposite side.
Normally I find that they are very attentive too but for some odd reason they were not. They gave me the wrong preordered meal but eventually got it right. I did not like the taste of the duck but I guess it is a personal preference. The crew seems to be tired from the go and it was a 0145 departure. No welcoming smile or anything like that. Very unusual.
Then I flew PE on the TPE to BKK and it was the same too inflight. The boarding at TPE was their usual form.

For dinner I’d go with lobster tail and sweet sour port if you like Asian. Otherwise sea bass or steak depends on meat or seafood.

None of the breakfast really sound interesting. Never a fan of BR’s congee (unpopular opinion: I actually like UA’s congee!). Maybe get ask the CA to keep some mid-flight meal and bring to you at breakfast time?
