they had 11 open F seats at the 3 day mark on my flight. I have to assume the whole concept upgrading in advance of day of departure will be going away.

Even the iPod Touch news today was ho hum. Only increased capacity to 64GB. Meantime Nano gets camera/video capability :rolleyes:.

I'm curious to see what happens with my flights next week. As of now, my flight for Monday hasn't been upgraded, and usually in the past the upgrade for that flight has come on Wednesday evening. Right now F is pretty empty, with only a couple of seats sold. We'll see what happens.

I was wondering the same thing.

I may be close behind.

The more I fly UA, the less opposed I am to their Economy Plus/certificate based upgrade system.

After pretty much disconnecting for the past couple weeks accept for some blogging, I am home and back in the saddle again. Some random thoughts from my trip:

1) The service in BF on EWR-HKG was top notch, though the overall C experience on Korean knocked it's socks off (with the exception of food).

2) While I found all of the surgical masks to be amusing, it did make me wish that more Americans would be considerate when they are sick.

3) The executive lounges at the Conrads in TYO & HKG were amazing!

4) The Sam's Tailor experience was top notch. Thanks to Plus1 for the recommendation! I ended up with a new jacket and 8 shirts. ^^

5) The Macau gambling experience was unreal, though I did wish they had more Craps tables at the Venetian.

6) All taxis should be as clean, cheap and efficient as those in HKG.

7) Thank god for point 6 as it was 95F and high humidity the entire time.

8) Warmed toilet seats are nice in the morning.

9) I need a bathroom with a rain shower head in the ceiling.

10) The beer machine at the NRT Northwelta club is awesome, though the pour sucked.

11) Seeing a CO 738 in NRT will always cause a double take.

12) The 772 seats can not be replaced soon enough.

13) Why can't more phones work in Japan and Korea? We can automate damn toilet seats - why not design more true world phones?

14) Every minute of complimentary drinks should be enjoyed to the fullest, despite protests of cranky significant others.

15) It is refreshing going to an airport and not seeing regional jets!

16) Airshow is like crack.

17) Pulling out a lav on the 772s really did make a difference.

18) Is it really that hard to have your documentation completed before you reach the officer?

19) I have said it before and I will say it again, charging $10/day for WiFi is a crime when you are staying in a room that retails for $500/night.

20) I am proud to be a points and miles whore!

I would love a touch but they really need to boost it to 100GB+.

As long as you're not flying to/from SFO where upgrade chances are like CO's EWR-LAX, the system works pretty well.
