Last night in F there was a guy dressed in a black wife beater, gold chain, and he had slicked back hair. He slammed his seat back as soon as he sat down.

The people behind me actually talked over the safety video, making the video impossible to hear.

I guess wn is canceling their hou-sea flight.

I guess buyups are killing the 'integrity of the cabin'...

Did he also douse himself with enough cologne to choke everyone on board?

I love how reading that definition in a certain way when applied to the airline context basically means "we don't want your kind here".

F used to stand for something, way back when...before society in general flushed itself down the toilet. It is not buy-ups that are killing F, it is the decline of all things good in society at large.

How many years did you spend in-country?

Closest I ever got to Vietnam was Clark AFB, Phillipines. Story's too long to tell in detail, but synopsis:

Knowing deferments ended w/ undergrad, a buddy and I put out names on the then-4 yr waiting list for pilot/nav training with Nat'l Guard summer before junior year. Monday after draft lottery, I checked into grad school scholarships (deferment) with AF ROTC. Got 90-handles of the written tests, full pass on flight physical (except vision 20/35=nav, not pilot). ROTC gave scholarship, good for any school w/ROTC, any subject except, among others, law school. More important, ROTC gave deferment.

I miss the summer training because ROTC doesn't tell me about it until too late, can't swear in until training in December. Deferment still in place. In Oct, ANG calls, says I'm at top of list (list cleared by lottery 'losers' declining), going to nav training at Mather in Jan, going to Lackland for basic in two weeks. Draft lawyer reads ROTC contract, tells me I've decided to go to law school, writes letter.

Get commissioned, get wings, get back, weekend warrior air refueling navigator on KC97L's. ANG unit gets activated, providing refueling to NATO out of Rhein Main (all 135's rotated to Asia to support B52s and fighters going North).

Air war in Vietnam ends, aircrew by the hundreds wanting into ANG/Reserves. To make room for captains coming out w/ KC135 experience (ANG getting them from Asia to retire 97's), any of us who want to leave can do so. Two years, 10 months and 2 days from commission, I was out.

And many of those -135 airframes are still in service today...lots of them with the non-uprated engines. For a civilian comparison, think A340-200 vs. -600. If you see a -135 with the small nacelles, it hasn't been thru retrofit, and at this point, probably will not go thru it.

And when they take off, tanks fully loaded, people know it--for miles around.

Bless me Box, for I have sinned...I went and spoke the unvarnished truth in that UA thread.

I was an F-16 ordnance guy and I live seven miles from a bombing range and within an hour's drive of a cargo/tanker base. I know the sound all too well...it's the sound of freedom. ^
