It's the crap seat. Pinnacle is operating the flight. But it's still a short flight and I'm willing to put up with it for the extra time we'll have in Amsterdam as a result. With this routing we can enjoy our last night there, rather than having to head back to an airport hotel for a short night of rest before getting up really early for the flight to DTW.

Still sitting at EWR. Train is still 5 minutes away. Have I mentioned that I hate NJT's schedule?

The NW CR9 F seats are not THAT bad and certainly much better than alternatives like sitting in the back or being on a CR2 where there is no front cabin.

No, it could be worse. But those seats tend to give me a back and neck ache within 45 minutes of sitting in them. They seem to have an odd angle to the back of the seat that just doesn't fit me well.

I feel your pain — have been there, done it quite a few times. I'm already dreading dealing with that this Friday afternoon. More than once I've shelled out the $30 to take Amtrak if there was one of their trains coming soon, and it avoided a 30+ minute wait for NJT.

Looks like my DL flight tonight is prime for VDB'ing. Unfortunately the only flight that's later is just as sold out, and I have to travel tonight. Maybe I'll get lucky, though… Last time I was on DL and this happened they stuck me on the next flight, which was oversold too, and then just bumped people off it to get me the seat.

Assuming my LGA-CLE-IAH goes well, I should consider buying a lottery ticket.

Did you have any checked bags?

I've made similar time coming in on CM before. JFK is horrendous for DL and only moderately intolerable for everyone else. Flying on B6, KE, UA or AA isn't a particularly bad airport experience at all there.

Every airline has to endure the horrible taxiway logjams to some degree. My dislike of JFK has less roots in the operational and more in the logistical. I won't drive 3 hours to fly, or drive 3+ hours to come home from my flight. I'd sooner leave from EWR and connect somewhere in Europe. Yes, I know that we as a region in the Northeast Corridor are spoiled...if you think about it with all things considered, there are what, four international gateways in this region that are logical choices on some level?

What's up with that? First time I've seen it

Was assigned 1st crew break, think right after dinner. Not enough sleepers in the cabin :(
Did get crew shuttle bus to hotel and see crew lounge at Swiss Hotel

Might not have to pay for food again until I get home, depending upon what the AF ZRH Lounge and various DL JFK SCs have tomorrow - yesterday, JFK B12 had a really good seafood salad, finger sandwiches, mousse, fruit, bread, etc.

Thanks for guesting me into JFK-25

Also, has anyone stayed at the Sheraton Sonoma County in Petaluma? The Westin Verasa Napa is not available and this seems like the next best SPG option in the Sonoma/Napa area.

Stayed at The place twice-nothing really special in my book. Have enjoyed several stays at the Saint Francis

Really shocked to see\know that this is what DL\CPB wants travelers to have as their first impression of the US. What a dark, dank, abysmal place

We didn't yesterday. Didn't matter. Think about a hallway in the basement with about 500 people in two masses where the staff members can't maintain order, and that was before queuing up for passport control. And I did get through Passport Control before windwalker despite him being 5 rows in front of me on the aircraft.

When you walk around town, you don't turn that abruptly.

No prob - that's what FT is for. And less time in line would have allowed far more time to nosh and drink.

I told pvr500 that the configuration was frankly worse than IAD.

ETA: The last time I transited JFK was 2000 and 2001. On December 26th of this year, I will be proudly JFK-free for nine years.

I get to go to that dump of an airport to pick someone up early Saturday morning because they didn't want to take a connection in SEA and rather fly in an empty 773 instead The $50 they are saving isn't much of a savings once they get done paying for my extra bridge tolls getting over to that dump.
