Looks like they'll be IDBing a number of people on tonight's flight. I bet CO feels dumb now for giving me a standard F award seat on this flight.

I've taken VDBs on awards, so it's not a CO phenomena.

So many things I could say here.

When I've asked, I've had success getting a different beverage.

Since the original flt went MX, this plane wasn't catered. They're still loading.

Well, good luck w/it all! ;) I try to avoid having to pay bridge & tunnel tolls whenever possible! That's why I don't have EZ Pass right now!

It was quite a shock when I drove down the NJT to DC & had to hand over ridiculous amounts of $ for tolls!:rolleyes:

Ahh -- so you're the one in the 10 minute toll line that I laugh at as I cruise on through at 30mph. The tolls are inevitable. Save yourself the headache and get an EZ-Pass.

The LM SF is probably the nicest hotel I stay in. The location isn't the greatest for touristy stuff but Union Square etc. is still walkable. Are you paying or using points?

Every airline has to endure the horrible taxiway logjams to some degree. My dislike of JFK has less roots in the operational and more in the logistical. I won't drive 3 hours to fly, or drive 3+ hours to come home from my flight. I'd sooner leave from EWR and connect somewhere in Europe. Yes, I know that we as a region in the Northeast Corridor are spoiled...if you think about it with all things considered, there are what, four international gateways in this region that are logical choices on some level?

JFK = :eek:

I will sometimes fly out of JFK going to Europe (for work), but getting there takes 3 hours door-to-door between Amtrak, the LIRR, and the AirTrain, and you don't even have that option unless you feel like driving to Metropark or somewhere. I wouldn't drive myself. For early morning flights (e.g., the day flight to London) I can justify the cost of a car service if I'm saving more $ for the client; it's a 2-hour drive at 4:30 am...

We didn't yesterday. Didn't matter. Think about a hallway in the basement with about 500 people in two masses where the staff members can't maintain order, and that was before queuing up for passport control. And I did get through Passport Control before windwalker despite him being 5 rows in front of me on the aircraft.

... SNIP ...

I told pvr500 that the configuration was frankly worse than IAD.

I have never entered the US at IAD but I find it hard to imagine what could be worse than passport control/customs in the DL terminal at JFK. Maybe being whacked with paddles or something while you're queuing for security?

Even passport control at SVO is better.

ZRH is the least chaotic fairly large airport I've ever experienced - that makes the compare/contrast with JFK much more profound.

Here's some of the awards ZRH has earned; I don't want to know the dishonors bestowed upon JFK.

My "so many things I could say here" was a way of not bringing up that fact. ;)

Just got an e-mail from our friends at the US Mint; looks like a trip to UPS on Wednesday.

Had to turn down a VDB offer on my CLE-IAH tonight. Am sitting on the plane now, because they couldn't offer anything arriving into IAH until late tomorrow evening.

ETA - someone just ripped an SBD crop-duster style whilst boarding.

Should have gone for CLE-LAS-IAH or CLE-SFO-IAH or CLE-LAX-CLE and taken the redeye and get the voucher.

Been about 5/6 months since that (very good) practice started. And some planes are dual-catered with Coke ^!*

* Order a Woodford and Coke together and I'll smack you on the back of the head the next time I see you.
