Morning, Box. Today is apparently the 6 year anniversary of the great East Coast blackout. Where were you that afternoon?

I was in Lowville, NY (the boonies of upstate NY) at one of our plants on a product trial. once we established the power was going to be out for a while, the manufacturing manager sent me across the street to the local grocery store and had me buy them out of hot dog buns. Since we own Oscar Mayer, the plant had recently had hot dogs by the case as part of the employee sale, and a few cases were left over.

He and I grilled for ~100 employees that evening.

Rudys is good. The original one was 2 miles from my first university but didnt learn about it until years after graduating

Yeah, that's the smoothest sounding one yet.

I see CO658 landed early at DCA, thereby delivering ALCO and Scott6067 to Teh Distrito De Claudio in time to have a few more drinks.

We did land early. We had a good flight. Jambalya was good :D

There was a hot FA!!!!

But were they any good at being a FA or more concern about looking hot?

You buy $1 coins for $1 each on a miles earning CC.

You then fret over the shipping and tracking. The order might be canceled or delayed interminably for no particular reason. It might show up in 3 days or in 3 weeks and you won't really know until it happens.

Once they do arrive you then have to take them to the bank and deposit them to pay off the CC bill. Sometimes this is a trivial task. Sometimes the bank refuses the deposit. Sometimes they harass you. Sometimes they require you to open up all the boxes, sometimes the individual rolls, sometimes nothing.

Lather, rinse,

Seriously not worth the effort, IMO. I did a few grand early on and just don't want to bother with it any more. I'll probably use it to hit my AA card churning thresholds - and actually use many of the coins for real spending - but otherwise it is too much work for the points.

Could you put this all in a larger type size for baglady's benefit? She keeps telling me that she's stopped but I keep finding the shipping boxes in the trash can.

Umm, they NEVER told me that they were going through a counter or anything else. They gave me a receipt and I left. I know it's only $1, but it's the point of it. I have disputed it with customer service & will see how far it goes.

Keep us up to date on the details.

There is no stopping there is only a slowing of the churning.

Around here, the trash truck does the pre-sort and then the landfill does the final sort, none of that sort it yourself junk. :D

I may live in the sticks, but I have an automated trash truck that does it all, the driver drives up pushes a button and mr robot does the rest!

Sounds like single stream recycling. I had it in Philly. In this part of Houston, there is NO recycling. My tax dollars at work. I throw out aluminum cans and plastic bottles since Houston refuses to send recycling trucks here, just outside of downtown. This city is far from a green city.

I've also been told MANY times that I need to stop the coin thing (she worries about EVERYTHING in life, so she thinks the feds will come for us after Wachovia filled out the LCTR or that they might get lost in the mail). Instead, I have them shipped to work, spend an extra 5 minutes at the end of the work day consolidating boxes & then stop by a bank or two on the way home. She still knows that it goes on, but since she doesn't see any evidence, her blood pressure remains where it should be. The only thing I lose in this deal is a few minutes of Judge Judy--instead of making it home by 4ish, it might be 420, which still leaves me watching 3 of the 4 cases when I'm not on the road :D

She should be like my weird neighbor. He takes his empty wine bottles and throws them away in the park trash can. I don't know why because he still recycles his other liquor bottles.
