What about the old old days when they flew EWR-IAH-LAX-IAH-EWR. That was always a great trip.

I'm still hoping DL releases some seats on the ATL-ICN 77L flight in 3 weeks... I'd gladly trade our JFK-ICN (KE) for EWR-ATL-ICN.

I'm supposed to fly ICN-ATL on 8/22. I may bail on the trip as it's still booked in a 77E and not a 77L (that was a large portion of the reason I took that routing).

But, I just pulled up the seat map and there are only 23 seats open in the back. I was quite surprised as to how loaded it is.

They still do, just not regularly. At least recently, there was an early morning EWR-IAH that was serviced by the jet that came home from either BOM or DEL.

I still can't believe you are going BKK-SYD-HKT... :D That is a lot of flying, regardless of class of service. Yes I must have missed a few posts. But hopefully you have some nice planes enroute. :) Are you going back through BKK to HKT?

We're going to SYD for 4 days, so to us it's worth the extra flying.

Our full routing is JFK-ICN-BKK-SIN-SYD-SIN-BKK-HKT-BKK-ICN-NRT-DTW-EWR with stops in ICN (3 days), BKK (2 days), SYD (4 days) and HKT (6 days). Aircraft flown will include 772s, 773s, 744s and an A380.

That's a lot longer than my first 777 flight (UA, IAD-ORD).

When are you going to be in ICN? Where else are you going over there?

If you need a 77L to fly hub-hub flights, you're too effing big for your own good. Next thing we know, DL will announce that they have signed a codeshare deal with the US Air Force for seats on C-5's.

There are many carriers that use 777s between their hubs.

Honestly, aside from CO and US, the other carriers have a lot of hub-to-hub traffic. UA has 763s and 777s going all over the domestic network, simply because they can fill them.

it could be a number of factors that play into it, but if they have the cycles and they are trying to grab market share in NYC, then flying a 77L into JFK may not be a bad idea. It could also be a way to get crew into rotation without having to deadhead them like they have to do for SYD currently.

They are already flying a 77L ATL-LAX-SYD-LAX-ATL so you can grab it on those domestic segments.

It use to be regular, I think it was two flights each way, but we are talking a long time ago now.

I'm doing one of the KUL runs then. So, tentativley, i'm flying TG LAX-BKK-KUL on 8/18 and getting into KUL sometime on the 20th. Flying out of KUL on the 21st and I have 8-9 hours in ICN so I'll likely be visiting the transit hotel.

Enjoy! We'll just miss you in BKK by a day...

I can't argue that point. The UA hubs combined probably have about 3-4x the combined enplanements of the CO hubs. I could look that up, but I'm too lazy.

DL hurting for market share in NYC, with the way their logo is smeared all over everything? I took a leak in Penn Station not too long ago and the urinal had a "Hit it Here" ad with a DL logo. <rimshot>

Speaking of Teh Wizard, your comments are requested in the 77E thread re: certain happenings at EWR that we seem to disagree on for the time being.

Too bad over half of those enplanements are RJs. :D

Well, CO has done the same. Try taking the escalator down at the 53rd St subway station. The entire way vestibule down is plastered with CO blue. (and that's a long escalator).

Thank you, sir. Having my arguments either shredded or validated by The Wizard is something like being told by Ansel Adams that you don't know $hit about photography.

Hahaha, personally, a 77W is a pipe dream at this point as is more 77Es. Everyone is just trying to survive and there are fire sales on the horizon.

Chicago won't have any snow this winter. All that damned heat coming from the fire sale at ORD.

Night, Box.
