In case anyone was wondering, the Subway at IAH does make fresh cold cut sandwiches at 8am - delicious!

Don't care! :D It could be #1 and it would still smell like dog vomit to me! :D

You're raised on real English Cadbury though - something most Americans don't understand. It is not the crap they peddle under the brand name here in the states. It is so much more.

Well, I'm oficially in US Mint hell. I placed my first order a couple weeks ago for $2500.00 (figured I'd start off small). I knew I'd be away when UPS came to deliver it so I called and told them to hold the shipment at the warehouse. When I got home, I found the 3 delivery attempt stickers on the door and called UPS to find out where to pick up the packages. Turns out that since my request to hold them was made before the first delivery attempt, everything was sent back to the shipper.

I called the mint to have them just turn the packages around and send them back out to me with the same tracking number. The mint says they have to accept the coins back into inventory, credit the charges, and re-submit the order from scratch. The total expected time for this to happen is 4-6 weeks. That means I've got a $2500 charge on my card that won't be credited by the time my bill is due and I've got no coins to deposit to make the payment.

Once this whole thing is over, I think I'll make sure I'll be home when the next order is supposed to come.

Sorry you are having trouble.

For a small service fee, you can have the packages routed to me. I will open, count and verify the shipment is correct and repack into manageable cases. For an additional fee I can make your deposits if you send me deposit tickets. ;)

If that's your worst, or next to worst, you've been very lucky. ;)

Very windy here in downtown/midtown Houston. Storms are brewing. Looks like nighttime now.

I find that it is taking one week for my orders to be delivered. I have been placing orders so they are delivered on my day off. So far it has worked out well.

Bummer. Next time, wait until you get the automated phone call and first delivery attempt. Then call to schedule the hold.

My order changed from "on hold" to "in process" ^

Brituchenite Aug 12, 2009 4:10 pm

Evening, Box. Another  day for me.

Really, can anyone tell me why people in the construction industry are so ? I am about to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on building a new house and all I get from the stores, suppliers, contractors, etc. are darned :rolleyes::rolleyes: Case in point. I went into General Builder supply to look at cabinets, fixtures, etc. and got  from the "designer" because I was asking too many "complicated" questions. Duh! If I'm spending big bucks on kitchen cabinets, I want to know if the frames are plywood or particleboard, the doors soild wood or veneer, etc. Puh-leese!

Then, I walked over to the exterior door section. They had a fabulous side entry door on "clearance". $875 down to $175. Douglas Fir. Prairie glass. Very nice. Now that is a bargain, so I talk myself into buying it. Go to pay for it, and the "Manager" tells me it was a mistake, and it wasn't supposed to be out on the floor, it was supposed to be sent back to the manufacturer for a credit. I was not happy. I wanted that door. I wanted it for $175. I, of course, walked out without it....:(

Rant over :D for now!

At least the oil tank was removed yesterday, and the inspector approved it, so we're all good there. And, ElizabethTown Gas took out the gas line earlier than they said they would. So that's good, right? :D

So, so, so right. I have a plentiful stash of it in my home at the moment, imported from the UK by moi.

For our kitchen, we used a kitchen designer who was worth her weight in gold. Let me know if you want her contact info

It's hot in the Bay Area. I dropped my mother off at the airport this afternoon. The visit was nice for her and my kids. I extended a personal invitation (since she requires a formal invite to visit ) for her to spend Thanksgiving with us.

On the condo front....still no rent check. The tenant pays the realtor, who gives it to the office to mail, so I gave them a few days due to the weekend but today's mail containing nothing. Still haven't head why they are late with the check.
