Discovery (they are behind many other channels too) have picked their share of turkeys. Mikes the last good/great person they picked and that was several years ago. They completely ruined Monster Machines with some big load mouth guy. They took a succesful series and sank it in a few weeks. The railroads of the worlds show was a train wreck for no better phrase because they used the incorrect host. That geeky architech one of the channels uses for building bigger or what ever is entertaining, in part he's afraid of heights and machines seem to break on him when he's up in the air and he freaks out a bit.

Biggest complaint about all DIY shows is that they show people painting incorrectly. You cut in first then roll. You don't roll 2 feet away from the corners and then cut in. And I'm amazed that the final paint job is obvious by professionals and not the hacks that couldn't paint a 2'x2' plank.

Very nice here, high 70s. Of course, I'm on my laptop while at the Firestone Complete Auto Care Center.

My lawn is looking meh at the moment. Needs a bit more water. I sprayed it with weed killer which is finally starting to take effect so slowing browing weeks looks  But mowing it after 8 days was a nice change instead of after 5 days.

Perhaps I should have changed my own oil today ...

One of the EU airport I'd most like to see is CPH. The pictures I have seen show some very nice architecture.

I was jetlagged and only used it on arrivals from a Schengen flight but I recall it being rather nice. Lots of light woods used and the baggage claim/arrivals area was quite nice. Both Metro and IC rail in the building was an added bonus. Of course, it is also maybe a quarter to a third the size of AMS so they benefit from that.

Three 12 year olds came to the door the other evening.

They were on a scavenger hunt.

They needed a "ball point pen with a hotel logo" on it.

They picked the right door to knock on!

You like the gate-side screening? I hate that I have to leave the lounge early because I'll have to wait in line and answer 5 stupid questions that do nothing to enable security, especially when I'm already air-side. And then I get to sit in the pen waiting for them to actually start boarding the plane. Not a fan at all. At least they have lavs in their pens.

I like gate-side screening, because:
  • Freedom of movement - you are not past a barrier until you are walking to the plane. In the case of AMS, one has no need to go back thru passport control, because the shopping and amenities are for the most part all available once you are past that point.
  • The time in the lounge is maximized if flying up front, because you can board pretty much whenever you want once the flight opens.

Point conceded if you're using the lounge and flying in the back...overhead space and such.

I just took a 116-question practice version of the 130-question exam. Gotta wait for the fiancee to get home so she can grade me.

I was surprised the other day when I picked up a Paper Mate pen the other day and it didn't have a hotel logo on it.

Back when it was an "E Ticket" I'm sure that the Disneyland monorail was in the black. :D

Oh hey, Netflix has all three discs of Generation Kill now. I'll finally get to finish it since I only had the first three episodes on my DL flights with AVOD. ^

Thanks! Just received the Jonan Bros. tix via FEDEX yesterday. Yep, that's how I spent my 10k SPG pts - on the Jo Bros and NO, I won't be attending.

I remember "concretes" at Ted Drews in St. Louis.

Off to the pool. BL JR brought up for at least the 20th time that she NEEDS a cell phone. She brought up the girls who came on the scavenger hunt and they had cell phones. I asked how old they were. Then I asked how old she was. Makes no difference; the kid is like talking to a brick wall. I asked her why she needed a cell phone and she said "TO CALL PEOPLE". I handed her mine and she said she didn't want an adult cell phone :rolleyes:

For those of you thinking about kids, let my stories serve as a cautionary tale. Photog72, I can only hope that baby photog stays sweet and does not become the strong willed child we have (we had no hope; her parents certainly are).
