This is true. I listened to pod cast this week, what is the problem with the NZ LAX lounge? Do they just hate people not flying on NZ?

Were the arm rests the same? If so, they are just zippered covers they threw on top of the old seats.

Maybe it wasn't padding but the lack of feeling fabric NW bought a warehouse of in the 70s.

Ok we are talking about the same thing. Maybe it is just in my mind that I thought the seat was more comfortable than the previous seat.

I suspect it is a combination of a) they are confused how people get there b) they don't like the UA folks leeching off of them knowing how bad the RCC is.

Or, of course, C) They haven't completely read the rules of * Lounge access.

I honestly can't imagine DL spending money to replace the seats on the DC9s. I would venture a guess and say the DC9s are not long for this world, at least in DLs world.

I agree with A + C, but airline that provides the status pays for the access. If I ran *A, I would structure the lounge deal by providing a running total that balances at the end of the month. That if 200 UAs access a NZ lounge and 100 NZs access the UA lounge, UA pays NZ for the 100 over.

I would think that a lot of NZ flyers that connect in LAX would end up on UA and in a RCC at one time or another.

I bring you my favorite post (and its reaction) that I ever wrote in the B6 forum re: JFK. The context was the sucktasticness of JFK vs. EWR.

It is my small understanding that both NZ and AC are quite fervent in their protectionism, and not politically speaking.

They are officially done now and so am I for this year. New metal roof and soffits and trim have been reclad in vinyl and/or aluminum. I'm working my way towards a less maintenance intensive exterior. This has all made a huge  in this year's travel budget....but it looks great.:)

I remembered when you wrote that. Personally, I don't even think it is nice. The whole airport needs to be shutdown, torn down, and re-built from the ground up. I am thinking something like an AMS one terminal concept.

I thought that too about NW a couple of years ago, but if I remember right I was educated by the Wizard of Fozz concerning the DC9, in that NW actually owned the aircraft outright and did not have any payments due on them. That made their operating costs significantly lower than other aircraft that were either leased or had lien holders, even with the godawful amount of fuel they guzzle. I wonder if DL keeps them around on the semi-regional routes until the market turns around.

Wasn't this most of what the last hour of the movie "Quick Change" was about?

I would agree with you, but for the fact that AirTran financed their 717s on the back of the reduction in fuel costs.

It honestly depends where in JFK you are.

T4 is really nice, though the lounges are not airside. T7 I really like. T1, T5 and T8 are relatively new so they are quite nice from what I hear.

The lack of one big terminal is nice in that it provides a bit more of an intimate feel.

Now, T2 and T3 should be blown to bits. Part of the problem with JFK is DL as they are WAY bigger than their facilities allows.

B6 and AA built new terminals before they went expansion crazy. DL just decided to use apron space and steady-stairs.
