Well, with Southwest 2294 landing safely my list of things I thought meant immediate death in an aircraft is getting shorter. First they go and land a plane in a river and now they're flying them around with holes in the fuselage. I suppose those "flotation device" and "oxygen mask" warnings are good for something.

More fun with the CO reservations desk this morning. I found availability on DL for ORD-YYZ to finish off my trip to MNL at the end of August. I call to add the segments and they say that the flights are not there. I hang up, call back and get the same :rolleyes:perator. Eventually I'm transferred to the co.com support desk since the flights are showing up there and I insist that they be booked. She says they aren't there. I book the reward and hold it. Suddenly she sees them and copies them over to my existing reservation and I have my flights. I don't understand it at all but I'm glad I got it booked. Now to check religiously for the non-stop and better arrival time over the next 4 weeks.

Mornin' box.

Gonna try to start hunting down a group rewards CLE-EIS in Feb. Flights are too darned expensive ($1,000+). We'll see if I have any luck.

Why do you want to fly to YYZ as part of that trip? The  you are certainly going to get from Canadian immigration officials isn't worth a new line.

M:rolleyes:rning, box!

We were eating at Big Ed's BBQ last night and saw the same scene on all the TVs as was pictured above. I've never seen all the TVs there on the same station. Alas, we didn't see the three intrepid boxians. We'll have to schedule CO box BBQ DO III at some point...

I actually am supposed to be in YYZ that weekend for a vacation with my wife. I'm tagging on the dive trip to the Philippines prior to that so I basically need to end the reward segment in Canada. I am not doing it just for fun with immigration, though as of now I route Philippines - Korea - USA - Canada which will be entertaining.

What are the odds that YYZ is considered a reasonable stopover point on a NYC-MNL-NYC reward? I wonder if I could add on the YYZ-EWR flight for free too. Something to call about later today, I suppose. It would preclude me from flying Porter Air, which I've been meaning to try, but it would also save me a hundred bucks or so, which would be nice.

I think it all depends on the routing and whether the agent you deal with knows where places are. If you were dealing with one of the UA reps in India you'd have no problem :p I don't think it's that unreasonable a request for a stop.

Good morning Box. Sigh, lots of work today.

Good morning box, Anyone ever use a Within Asia award (series 8) ?

Right now I've got JFK-ICN-MNL//MNL-ICN-ORD-CVG-YYZ. I'd be adding YYZ-EWR (assuming availability - I haven't checked yet). I'm also hopeful that ICN-YYZ will open up so I can grab that and get to YYZ earlier in the day, but I'm not sure that will happen.

Xyzzy Jul 14, 2009 6:50 am

That looks good. You're allowed one open jaw and one stopover. Remember that under the CO rules for awards, departure from JFK and return to EWR counts as an open jaw.

I may have misread it, my mind is hazy at times.
