Teaser

Here's a photo of the new Aeromexico Salon Premier at MEX. Nothing uploaded yet from the current trip, but those pics are next on the list for uploading (I go in chronological order).

The glassed-in area at the left in the background is the games area, with wii, Xbox 360 and PS3. Off to the right in the background is the Riedel Wine Bar. The central bar/seating area in the center-background is the "laptop bar." If you'd like to view the lounge in all its glory, you can click on the "All Sizes" tab, then view the pic at original resolution (3888 x 2592). Enjoy the Aeroporn.

Okay, so CO just puts in a generic seatmap of the Trip-7 until they know the plane to be flown, right? Learn something new every day. Just like today when I visited the Battle Box at Fort Canning here in SIN, where I learned that Churchill actually planned on sacrificing Singapore to the Imperial Japanese during WWII in order to save India and Burma.

The photos that I saw of the Imperial Japanese occupation were horrific....

Check out these incredible pictures of a Kalitta 742 that overran the runway on takeoff at BRU today. Fortunately no one was hurt.

I read the articles, but the full-size pictures of the Kalita bird are pretty amazing. Complete structural failure of a fuselage is rare...

I can't find it now because I'm doing about 14 different things, but I once saw pics of a Saudi Air 747 that cracked in half when maintainers tried to move the jet with cockpit steering instead of on a tow...to get forward motion they started the outboard engines, apparently ignoring that all hydraulics and ground controls are tied to the inboards. Tee hee until they couldn't stop and drove the jet into a monsoon drainge ditch. [edited for accuracy: been a while since I saw this]

This might be it, still looking:

The Amex Centurion Lounge at EZE has been totally redesigned.
They have a main area and 2 vip zones
Platinum and the Black Card

I managed to get into the Black Zone and had a beer and some johnny walker Green :D

I take it the lounge is passable, then? Last time I was through there (March), I had Admiral's Club access, due to flying LA Biz. It was okay...about on par with a low-end Crown Room Club, but with free booze (must be a perk of the overseas Admiral's Clubs, but dunno, as I'm not that familiar with AA). I had used the old Amex lounge there in the past, and it was often worse than just waiting in the terminal (due to overcrowding).

Am in the FCT at FRA now, wishing LH would just move its HQ and operations to Houston and install one of these. :D

When CO started service to EZE , they tried to get into the Amex Lounge but were turned away because it was already too busy. (CM has access to it)
After the redesign, It looks much better except it is still crowded.
They have a main room which is pretty open and well light. The bar is gone and they have all drinks in the self service refrigerator (even frosted mugs). The 2 other areas are behind locked frosted glass locked doors, The amex plat which was very crowded and feels a little cramped, even with windows it is way too narrow.
and the Amex Black Card , which was small but comfortable and never told really crowded.
Overall a nice improvement from the old lounge and it beats going to the Sala of the Americas ( CO's contract BF lounge)

Hawaii, anyone??

It means flying UA, but for EWR/IAH folks there is a sub-$300 fare out there right now to HNL or LIH. Get while the getting is good.

For LAX folks CO has similar fares to HNL, which triggered the UA retaliation.

More details in the MR forum.

It is a pretty incredible deal from EWR! Unfortunately, it wouldn't be enough miles to get me any worthwhile status on UA unless I moved some of my CO flying to UA.
