For LAX folks CO has similar fares to HNL, which triggered the UA retaliation.

More details in the MR forum.

Even better - PHL-HNL on CO for $299 all in! ^

Well, I'd need to add on some other fare on HA to get out of HNL, so not as great for me. I did HNL once and have no desire to ever see it again. Of course, the CO miles might make it worthwhile if a quick turn were possible. It would give me a chance of making elite again for '09.

The fact that UA put LIH on sale is a great alternative...

Has anyone tried to do a 24-hour turn? I would go for Pearl Harbor and come back at that price...although going all that way and not playing golf is somewhat sinful.

Very true. If you are going to LIH and collecting *A miles, the UA deal is definitely better.

Unfortunately, I am not sure I am going to be living up in this area later this year when the CO deal is available. :(

Shouldn't be a problem at all. Pearl Harbor is cool but certainly not worth a 1 day trip just to see that.

I am going to bless The Box with my 1,000th post! :D

It's sad that it took me a year and a half to get here...

EDIT: This also brought me back to a tie with ConciergeMike on # of posts here.

I would do a 24 hour turn to see Pearl and have a couple meals at the places we enjoyed...maybe head up to the N shore and away from Waikiki. Sadly I'm on a PDA for the next 6 hours or so, making booking and rule reviewing much harder.

I'm not as good with fare rules as I should be, but I just tried a 1-day turn in Sept. and got a $1600 fare. When using the +/- 3 days option on CO.com, it looks like a 7-day stay. Bummer.

This post seems to indicate a 3 day minimum stay.

It's still a very good deal - take a few days and enjoy Oahu! :)

No denying that it's a great deal....question is if I can work it in, which I doubt.

On a MR, why not? ;)

Pearl has a lot of history and for me spending a full day there visiting the Arizona, Bowfin and Missouri was definitely time well spent. The pacific aviation history museum may be more worthwhile once they get a little further along into the phases but right now it's just an excuse to get into an air conditioned space on the way to the Missouri.

Haha - I thought about what I wrote about I posted it. I don't know what I was thinking. :D

I actually have a pair of UA tix reserved. One run is for Oct 16-21 and the other is for Jan 22-26.

While I'd love to give CO the biz, I don't think i'll need the extra miles and the thought of having to fly in coach for that run seems painful. I've got a stack of Regional CR1s that I haven't been able to use on UA, so this seems like a great use.

So, if anyone happens to be there, let me know.

I think 3 days in Oahu is fine. If you get bored you can find cheap fares to the other islands if you keep your eyes open.

Had I not been so obsessive about finding cheap coffee I think sdm1130 and I could have done more stuff (climbed Diamond Head, played golf, explored more of the northern part of the island, etc.)

I'm still looking at island hopper fares on CO, and it seems you have to book them a certain way to get the hopper to actually show up.

Really? How so? I've had no problem finding them by just doing a multi-city search with EWR-IAH-HNL-GUM-etc. As long as the HNL-GUM segment is on a day the island hopper operates, I have had no problem with it showing up.

So, are we going in August? :D

I got my BMI Gold kit in the mail over the weekend.

4 PE upgrade certs
4 Hertz upgrade certs
1 Piece of wallet candy
2 plastic luggage tags w/name and number on it.
The problem is I have to tie this to my luggage, not just stick them on my CO ones.
