GM always have some decent cars. Some of them are always great - like the trucks and the Corvette. However, something like the 4-cylinder Vue should never have been built, period.

A non-Turbo 4-cylinder Subaru Forester with also about 170HP and similar interior capacity will have shifted zero times from Columbia to Savannah, and can hold 80MPH on cruise the whole way. My Vue probably shifted 100 times between 3rd and 4th for the same trip, having problem holding speed over a bump on the freeway.

Same here. It's not a bad car at all if well powered.

If only a laptop with a protective (polarized?) screen cover and the matching virtual-reality, Floirda-blind-driver goggles. That way if you felt like, you could watch donkey porn on your laptop and no one could see. (Not that I have done this, of course, just an example.)

Solution 2: Non-music content of iPods. I am amazed by the world of free podcasting. Listen to the lectures from the USAF Museum. The Onion Video News. The list goes on.

I too can't stand the clean family-friendly crap that airlines show. I don't own a laptop, so for now it's the iPod option. But yes, the choices often do suck...I'm fighting the urge to rant about personal freedom.

It's not just CO. All the movies in LH F were edited for content.

The Sony PSP isn't a bad take along option either. I just got one and am looking forward to trying it out next month to FLL.:D

It can play music, games (duh), and videos. Videos are a bit of a hassle to play as you'll probably have to convert them to a format the PSP likes. Battery life is pretty good, and it takes memory stick duo's for storage so it's easy to get more capacity. Price isn't bad either $169 (sans memory stick), but I think it's bigger than an iPod touch.

I'm surprised that LH edits their selections. I guess I've never realized it.

I watched 21 Grams (GREAT movie) on SQ between JFK and FRA a couple years ago. Great movie, but the content is geared more towards adults. My seat mate was an elderly woman, probably 70+, and without fail, every time she wanted to get out to stretch, use the restroom or whatever - was right when there was a scene featuring adult content (read: breasts) on my PTV.

I was embarrassed for both of us during the viewing.

Maybe I'm young and brash, but I'm  as well. I just don't get it as far as personal choice. I can totally see in ye olden days when it was a projection screen...no naughty stuff then, of course. But nowadays there are soooo many ways to watch or listen to media content privately despite being in a public place. If someone really wants to take it to an extreme, get those black goggles with the LCD built in. Aren't they in SkyMall? Tiny projection technology makes it seem like whatever you're plugged into is on a 60" screen a few feet away, when it's really ~2" from your eye? Granted, there's a separate discussion about cost and need and that item being totally frivolous, but the technology exists.

I am no fan of censorship and I see your point that w/ more and more private IFE's I can see a lessing of the rules. But it still is not that hard to see what people are watching esp in Y its best to try and keep things clean. esp with kids on board

The new Malibu is a SHARP looking car. A head turner, dare I say. I would definitely consider it. ^

How many miles were on the car? Since it was a rental, I can't help but wonder if it had been abused and was malfunctioning?

colpuck May 27, 2008 10:28 am

I remember the first movie I saw on CO was The Rock in "Walking Tall" now it's The Rock in "The Gameplan."

Granted, the CO movie selection opens my eyes to genres that I have overlooked, romantic comedies and children's movies. (Hey I am a single guy here.) But is there no PG or PG-13 movie with at least one gratuitous explosion? Up until the 90's didn't all bond movies come with a PG rating? What about some of those comic book movies that are all the rage now?

I agree that showing 21 grams and ilk on the overhead is probably not the best idea. But, the majority of the people who travel by air are adults; so a few movies geared to a person over the age of eight would be nice.

There's no way for me to counter this statement without sounding like a pervert or a child-hater, of which I'm neither.

Preach on, brother. (Why aren't posts quoting correctly?:mad:)

It's probably the same problem that is causing the site to show me as the only person online. I know I'm not the only one addicted to Flyertalk... :D

ConciergeMike May 27, 2008 10:55 am

Big difference between addiction and currently nothing more exciting in life...I have zero desire to wade thru this box of brochures that got dropped off. I'll end up doing it just to appear busy, but I just don't want to. There was a database crash of some kind earlier...maybe the UA board finally reached its breaking point.

Sounds to me like someone is still in denial... :p
