EWR-BWI usually involves about 35-45 minutes of wheels up time in an ERJ, depending on which approach they use into BWI. The Q400 takes a bit longer.

The links take you to info for BDL, which sdm1130 was talking about, but later realized he goofed on.

I like Ft. Worth as well. Definitely worth a trip over there one day. There's also some good steak places in Ft. Worth, although I can't really recommend any in particular. I'm not usually one to order steak (with the exception of random places in podunk Ohio :p). Edited to add: I did just think of one Ft. Worth restaurant worth looking into. I've never been to the Ft. Worth location, but there is a location of Reata there in Downtown. The other, and original, location is down in Alpine, where I've spent a lot of time in the last year for work. It's quite good. I've had a steak there, as well as the chicken fried steak, barbecue shrimp enchiladas, and the chile rellenos and all have been excellent, if not outstanding. And if you go, you absolutely must save room for their signature dessert, the white chocolate bread pudding tamale.

I also second Hartmann's suggestion of TexMex. Dallas doesn't have quite the plethora of great choices for that cuisine that Houston and San Antonio do, but there are some good choices. And how can you visit Texas without gorging on chips and salsa, enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, and margaritas at least once?

The portion sizes in TexMex restaurants and Texas steakhouses never cease to amaze me.

Damn what's the identifier for Wings? BBX I think...

BBX it is.

Having moved to Philadelphia after the Blue Route was finished, I never realized that there was commercial service from BBX (which I pass on the way to the office) until one of my clients told me stories of having flown the shuttle to PHL.

I flew BOS-ALB-BGM-ITH on PI 20 years ago, although I think BGM-ITH may have been a little longer than 12 minutes.

Hey, you never know. If DL gives up gates at ATL due to the NW merger, WN may find themselves with new routes. :D

I would to see WN come to ATL, I am sick of driving 2hrs to BHM to save 150-200 on fares becuase WN doesn´t fly into Atlanta.

Hmmmm, let's see, where are my favorite places in the Big D...

http://www.mercadojuarez.com/locations.nxg (I always went to the Northwest Highway location)

http://www.miastexmex.com/ yum.

I agree with Hartmann re: the TexMex. Also worth a try, Mi Cocina or Herrerra's.

I would too. But DL and FL would do everything possible to prevent it from happening. FL may be a "discount" carrier, but they really don't seem to help keep fares out of ATL reasonable. It's not that I really desire to fly WN out of ATL; I just want to see the "Southwest Effect" applied to fares out of ATL.

WN and ATL don't mix. Too much probability of poor ontime performance, IMO.

COFlyerCLE May 13, 2008 10:04 am

I knew I could count on all of you! Thanks Hartmann, rolov, and ALCO for the great suggestions and photos, even! We will definitely do some TexMex there, and no worries ssullivan - we will have plenty of margaritas!!!!! :p

(Actually, I am convinced the reason I have a cold this week is that I stopped doing tequila shots first thing in the morning (and all day long) like I did last week in PVR).

Can't they just build more runways? There are still plenty of freeways and parking lots around the airport they can build runways over, right? And they only have Concourses A to E + T. There are still 20 other alphabets to use. Just speed up the train some more and they won't have problem moving people around!

That's what I thought of WN and PHL. Apparently, it has worked for WN and the fares at PHL came down. I remember the introductory fares of $29 RT ex-PHL to PIT, RDU, MHT, and PVD on WN. US matched (via its GoFares), and I did a lot of MRs near the end of the year to make silver that year. I think WN could work in ATL, with domestic capacity cut via a DL and NW merger.

I've often wondered why not a second airport in ATL.

Let everyone domestic airline other than DL and FL operate out of the other airport so they're not sucked into the operational quagmire that is ATL during irreg. ops. Let DL and FL play at Hartsfield-Jackson-Atlanta-Overly-Hypened-International-Aerodrome

Although, I must say, it has gotten better in recent years.

Good luck! I have often had affection for the notion of working for an airline. As an airplane geek, it would probably be great. However, as far as any IT jobs I've seen them advertise for, it would also be a 50% pay cut for me, and that pretty much kills the deal.

Right now, for me, I don't care where I work. I need a job in Houston that has decent pay - my gf will be the bread winner - and decent working conditions. However, I would find it great to work for CO. Having heard about the excellent corporate structure at CO ^, I would like to work for them, as opposed to just another job.

I thought they already have one! CHA is Atlanta-North, isn't it? Oh, maybe not, as Skybus has shut down. :p
