Wow, I've only seen an Accord as a rental once before. Last November, Hertz at TYR had a couple of Accord EX V6s on their lot. But that's the only time I've ever seen them.

A beast indeed. Though only tangentially related to SABRE, I got a bit of nostalgia reading this post, remembering days of my youth spent on AOL Dial-Up (back when they charged by the minute), playing endlessly with eAAsySabre. I remember drooling and dreaming at the thought of Transcons on 747s on the likes of TW.

While I've never used eAAsySabe, I do distinctly remember United Connection and man do I miss it. I keep wondering why they haven't been able to replicate that kind of functionality 12 years later.

Wow, I thought I was the only travel agent offspring here, given some of the anti-agent comments I read on some fora.

If you think FIDELIO stunk, get this: Atlantic City is still using LMS. Hotel and gaming stuff is done in AS400, with no visible nod to the change to "iServer".

Yep, it is. I was even guilty of driving down to DFW when I was bored on the weekend in college and just hanging out at the airport, or just driving around the place. At the time it was not just full of MD-80s, but 727s, F-100s, L-1011s (DL), DC-9s (on CO/NW/DL), and old 737s.

Yeah, no kidding. I took my Aerogeekness a hair too far, and did 7 years in USAF blue. I built ordnance for F-16's. The only part I really dug was being overseas. My father had a Piper Cherokee, so thanks to that I know what I'm doing but never got the license.

My Dad and I would stop by LGA and watch the planes land. That was pretty cool, but mostly 737s annd 727s back then (mid to late 80's). JFK would have been better, but there weren't any good vantage points short of parking on the Belt Pkwy. or a boat in Jamaica bay.

Hell, I do that now. ;)

I hope not at DFW. It sucks for spotting these days. Serves them right for being in Dallas. :p

Nope, not at DFW.

I was at Shea stadium last night. I heard a rumor that a baseball game was played.

I wouldn't know, I was too content drinking my $19 Bud Lights  and watching the underside of the mAAd Dogs screaming overhead (which was a bit unsettling knowing how things like to fAAll off AAmerican jets).

I used to drive through DFW airport on my way home from work (intentionally) instead of taking the many alternative routes. It was perfect timing to see a lot of the international flights going out.

Once 161 was finished by 183 I'd pull over and put my hazard lights on and just watch the planes for a while.

I was ticked when they closed off the portion of Rankin Road in Houston that used to run right next to the runway. That was one of the best spotting locations around. The KL 747-200SUD could often be seen rolling down that runway for takeoff.

For all of you plane spotters out there - I came across the following site today:

http://www.planespotting.com/airports/na.html

It gives some good user submitted information on the best places to watch planes at airports across the world. Many of the locations are spot on. Although, they failed to mention that you'll be harassed by all sorts of Hawaiian law officers if you spot too close to the parking lot at the end of Lagoon Drive (next to HNL).

Looks like I am going to head out to LAX this weekend (seatcounter.com even shows a very good chance at upgrades both ways - shocking!). I'm looking forward to eating an In-N-Out burger while watching planes at LAX. :D

I was willing to do the EWR-LAX run this weekend. But, I have to be at work at 3pm on Monday. Darn. It is $249 RT, right?
