Speaking of planespotting, I could see planes flying over western part of Kowloon, on approach to Kai Tak, from our apartment on HK Island. It was kind of far, but I can still figure out colors and patterns on the tails.
Then when I was in DC going to graduate school, I was down at Gravelly Point several afternoons a week looking at planes at DCA. |

Gravelly Point is awesome, but DCA does not see a very exciting mix of aircraft. One tires of watching CRJ's, M80's, and E170's for hours, with only the occasional NW/DL/UA 752 to liven things up. IAD had much more variety.

IAD does get an interesting mix. One of the last places in the U.S. to get a good look at some African metal.
As for DCA, the regional jet hasn't been invented yet. 737 and 727 mostly; some 757s. Lots of Dash-8, some -7; ATRs; Shorts 360. Can't remember if there were 320s or not. Also EMB-120, but don't remember the B1900. I'm talking about 1992-5. |

I was reading the box on my phone ,on the long security line at EWR today. I read it wrong :D |
Well I had a first at work today — had to cut my training class almost an hour short when water started pouring into the room through the air conditioning vents and the ceiling started dripping. Apparently the building we were in has an issue with taking on water when there's a bad storm, and Baton Rouge was clobbered this afternoon with several hours of almost nonstop heavy rain and severe thunderstorms.

So here I sit in the AmeriSuites at MCO getting ready for my run to Flint tomorrow.
Have all my upgrades in hand. Got the AmeriSuites for $35 a night on priceline and get to the hotel and had a coupon for a free app at Tony Romas. NWA at OKC today was a mess at both the Ticket and the gate area. Gate Agent be-rated a passenger for wanting to standby and said he had to go back through security to be put on the list for the flight she arrive 45 mins before departure to work. So after seeing her customer service skills I decided to not ask for the upgrade and be yelled at. Got on the full flight OKC-MEM on a wednesday no less. Seat was in auto recline mode and got yelled at by FA who I wanted to ask if the plane (a DC 9-30) or her was older? (sorry I know that is bad but I couldnt resist). The rest of the flight was uneventful. I got to MEM for my 37 connection and got to the gate and got an upgrade on a reward ticket. That was a nice flight into MCO and the under renovation terminal where NWA is. I will get the chance to experience the CO side tomorrow and the Delta side on Friday. Should be interesting. Anyways.... just want to download into the box. |

Looks like I am going to head out to LAX this weekend (seatcounter.com even shows a very good chance at upgrades both ways - shocking!). I'm looking forward to eating an In-N-Out burger while watching planes at LAX. :D

That In-N-Out is one of my favorites and you really can't beat the location. Though none of my friends ever seem to understand my infatuation with going to that one.
I have never been to that location, so it should be cool to watch the planes! |

For all of you plane spotters out there - I came across the following site today:
http://www.planespotting.com/airports/na.html It gives some good user submitted information on the best places to watch planes at airports across the world. Many of the locations are spot on. Although, they failed to mention that you'll be harassed by all sorts of Hawaiian law officers if you spot too close to the parking lot at the end of Lagoon Drive (next to HNL). Looks like I am going to head out to LAX this weekend (seatcounter.com even shows a very good chance at upgrades both ways - shocking!).
