I'm convinced that N750CX is a manufacturer test...the path looks like the old-school Cessna logo.

And sbm12, I don't mean to intrude, but I've gotta ask: have you considered (or are you currently, did at one time, etc.) make any serious money on your photos? IMO you should. I'm working on my own gallery right now, and while I can see my progress in shooting talent from 2006 when I got into it, I still see myself as nowhere near you.

edit: this would be another example of me not picking up on something in plain sight right away, because both those flights are indeed manufacturer tests, or at least the aircraft info on the right side of the FlightAware page would have you believe that. Thank you, Captain Obvious.

Oh yeah, and here's my contribution to goofy shapes in the air. Elementary, I admit, but still funny.

Thanks much :o

I've managed to gross a hair under $1k over the past 5+ years selling them. The VAST majority of that was a one-time payout from my old company. I brought in some frames a couple years ago and started decorating part of the office since it was near my desk and the walls were rather plain. I kept updating the pictures after each trip with new ones. When I quit back in December I gave them the option of buying the prints and they agreed to my initial asking price  (I should've asked for more). I've sold some others as well, but mostly to family/friends. My rates are pretty reasonable for custom framed work ($100 for an 18x22 wood frame, archival print and custom cut mat). And I've actually sold a couple straight from the gallery page to family, though those are mostly some of the wedding snapshots.

I do have an EIN set up for my photography "business" so at least I get some tax benefits on the hardware.

I often consider jumping ship and doing it full-time, but it is way harder making money that way than it is setting up computer networks. Taking good pictures is way easier than convincing someone to pay you a livable wage to do so. I also suffer the pain of living in NYC where there are a ton of great photographers, a number of whom live in my building. Every time I have drinks at one of their apartments I feel incredibly inadequate, even though I know my stuff is pretty good. There are just a lot of levels in the game these days.

Anyways, thanks again for the compliment - I truly appreciate it.

S.

No problem at all, sir. I'm sifting thru the 4,000+ shots I've kept since the summer of 2006 right now to come up with about 100 presentable ones that are going to go into two binders: one 8x10, another 11x14. I don't expect to make any serious coin on it, but having paper binders beats the hell out of using the slideshow function of an iPod to show off your work. You and I have a mutual FTer friend, so the first chance I get to attend a DO, hopefully all 3 of us can get a drink.

Just did ATL-MIA-ANC

Random notes

1)If you are hanging out with drunk coeds and drunk middle aged guys, you will be sitting next to the drunk guys.

2)The drunk guys will offend everyone.

3)If you dress casually, elites will throw elbows trying to get to their Y seat ahead of you.

4)MIA + SEA used to be ****holes now they are actually fairly nice.

5)You have to pay for wireless in MIA, unless you have a T-mobile account and use DL's CRC access.

6)TSA takes too damn long in ANC.

7)If flying into EWR, a) your gate will change; b) people will go to the lav during taxi causing the plane to come to a screeching halt; and c) the jetway will be broken.

8)Someone will collapse and an ambulance will be called at your flight out of EWR, delaying it for half an hour.

9)CO books 38 min connections in EWR. (should have looked before I booked)

10)The Irish dance team on their way to SEA will be too young for you, but their moms are kinda cute.

11)CO has computer issues with time changes.

12)The new AVOD system on the 757 has numerous bugs, my seatmate and I crashed battleship, checkers, poker, and the movies, TV shows, and CD's. Resetting had no effect.

13)First time sitting in a BF seat and yes it does seem dated.

14)EWR agents and F/A seem unfriendly, b)F/As will yell at you to not touch them when you tap them on the shoulder to procure the two people sitting next to you breakfast.

15)The osso bucco (sp?) seems inedible and no one who ordered it ate it.

16)When you are tired "August Rush" seems like a really moving and deep movie. a) can we please end "Parents for a moral America" dictating movie choices for CO flights.

/end random notes.
(not a full trip report, but just musing on my completed CO MR)

colpuck, your post reminded me that on my recent IAH-DEN taxi to the runway someone got up as we came up to the active. The FA came over the speaker and said "sir, you need to sit down and hold it... You'll be the reason we don't get to takeoff"

10) Probably one of the better lines I've read in the last few days. ^

15) Yes it's spelled right, and it's beyond me why an airline galley would attempt such a dish. If gourmets occasionally get it wrong, it doesn't belong on an airplane.

16) I'm in the dwindling minority that seems to think that political correctness sucks, so I'm totally with you here. If it's an AVOD system, there shouldn't be editing. It's not Wal-Mart. AVOD = not total privacy, but a hell of a lot more than the old school projector screen.

Suggestions from the Box

I have back to back weddings in Florida
April 5th in FLL and april 11th in MCO with a rehersal dinner apr 10th
So im trying to decide if i should fly back and forth or take a couple of days off and fly from FLL-MCO via anywhere.
I have a CO $1200 Y ticket in my account to use toward my purchase.
So far the top choice is $1575
4/4 EWR-FLL 4/6 FLL-IAH IAH-EZE 4/9 EZE-IAH IAH-MCO 4/12 MCO-EWR
and i would be visiting my grandmother in Argentina.
Any other suggestions ?

ConciergeMike Mar 11, 2008 9:36 pm

1. In your opinion, is the time better spent in Argentina? (No offense to your grandmother.)
2. Do you have any other pressing need for that $1200 ticket?
3. I'm guessing that the ~20K miles you'd be getting are a significant decision point?

side note: if you wanted the miles that bad, you could go FLL-IAH-MCO or something, but you could also just as soon drive it or take a 45-minute WN short-hop. I know some people look at being on a commercial airplane and not getting miles for it as bordering on the criminal, but it is an option.

1. I am still planning to visit her in May for her Bday (ticket already booked) , so it would just be a surprise visit.
2. Not really
3. it would be nice for EQM's , i looked at the HNL deal CO had too. But i dont really need the miles that much.

I don't mind driving, I just did not plan on staying in FL for those days, and when i looked at booking 2 separate flights EWR-FLL RT and EWR-MCO RT i thought , maybe i can use my current ticket and include other destinations.

ConciergeMike Mar 11, 2008 10:08 pm

Not being as frequent a flier as most here, I would find it real hard to walk away from all those miles...and who in their right mind can resist their grandma?

Just heard a rumor. Related to this particular aircraft:

That's all I'm allowed to say. :)
