It's a pure MR, same day RT. The SFO connection is 53 min. I've looked at the pda info site and it appears that the AC for the SFO outbound is a turn around on the inbound AC so we should be able to deplane and be right at the desk for the GA if we need to pick up boarding passes.

It was booked as a RT, not a multi-segment.

At 53 minutes you may be below the minimum check-in time. Just ask the counter at MSY or a PC or service center rep at IAH to check you in for the return segments and issue the BPs. I wouldn't risk not being checked in an hour in advance.

There's only two airlines that would have any interest in that bird. Of the two, I think CO would be more likely to snap it up, given its widebody shortage. It would be a shame to see such a young airframe get chopped up for parts. I wonder whether another 764 would be sufficient to allow CO to start up a new route (IAH-MAD, EWR-DME, EWR-PRG (by shuffling a 762), EWR-VCE (see PRG), EWR-LOS, etc.), or whether they would just use it to return widebody service to existing airports where 752s have subbed in to maintain capacity.

Seems like the two new 772s won't arrive until 2nd half of 2009, and who knows about the 787s. PVG starts in March, and in the early part of summer, CO will be extremely short on widebody aircrafts. They need this 764 to help out, and probably need to wet lease another 1 or 2 767/777s aircrafts just to maintain European capacity.

You guys noticed that this is a freighter, right? I don't know what is involved in putting the windows back in, but I would imagine that it takes more than a few hours of labor to accomplish.

Or are they going to just pack us all in freight pallets and ship us off?

It's not a freighter. It's a test bed for the canceled E-10 AWACS program. I'm sure they need some time to take out all the special features to turn it back to a regular passenger -400ER.

I think it's safe to assume that more then a few hours of labor would be involved in any sort of modifications. I read that this is a standard 764ER with plugs in the windows so that would minimize some of the conversion work.

The consensus on a.net is that this ship is still headed to the USAF for testing so who knows if CO has a chance at picking it up. I posted the picture just to see if I could get some more info out of rkkwan. ;)

Will do - thanks.

With no windows and an "F" in the model number designation (767-4FSER) I assumed freighter. Either way I'd be surprised to see it end up in CO's fleet.

This is what I was hinting at. Since the program was canceled, I can see Boeing trying to milk this plane into the market somehow.

Where does one find the nipples on a 767-400?

I think you should use "teats" instead. ;)

rolov Mar 17, 2008 4:00 pm

Maybe this is all part of CO's new enhanced BF product.
New Lie Flat Seats ,No Windows and No Livery in case of a merger
and then we can start a thread to track the new "undercover" plane
i can see it on the PDA.com "SHIP # NOT AVAILABLE"

Instead of diverting to YYR it will mysteriously keep ending up at NBW.

Maybe CO is lookin' to pick-up some government contracts.

It is a tanker, so it does have one nipple as shown on the video of the KC-135.
