Speaking of the CO Insider, I'd love to see his FlightMemory, what with his tracking of tail numbers and all. I'm kinda surprised that he doesn't link to it. I have mine as complete as my memory will allow, and I keep a separate one for my joint travels with my girl, and I maintain yet a third one for my mother.

A lot of people keep all their BPs. Or if they're pilots, they definitely will have kept their log books.
My average flight is 1,998mile; or 4 hours. I guess that's double the average. :) As for your stats... What can I say, every rule needs an exception. And I did say most ;) |

Yeah, I do the same. And I remember how long it took me to enter the info from all of my boarding passes.

Mine is only really truly accurate from 2005 on, with the exception of the flying that got me to and from Basic Training in SAT in 2001. Everything other than that is as truthful as I can come up with after asking my mother.

I wish I had kept mine. I don't have detailed records for some flights just a few years ago, and I didn't enter some of the HKG-TPE flights I had in the 70's as I can't even confirm the dates or airlines flown. :(

I sat down one night in 1998 or 1999, back when I had only flown about 25-30 flights in my life (all family vacations) and created a list of my flights by memory. At the time it was easy to remember it all. A year later I had my first job that required somewhat frequent business travel, and I just kept the list up. At first it was a Word document, then an Excel spreadsheet, which then got entered on FlightMemory. The current incarnation is a full blown database application written in MS Access which lets me record it all, but also keep very detailed records for my frequent flier and hotel accounts (something that was in the Excel spreadsheet too, but was getting difficult to manage there).
So, my FlightMemory is 100% accurate for the routes and airlines I've flown. It's about 99% accurate for dates (exact dates since about 2002, and a few before that -- accurate months and years for all the rest), and about 99% accurate for aircraft types before 1996. The only real doubt I have for aircraft types are some WN flights when I was a kid, where I can't be totally sure if it was a 73S or 733. It's also possible that some of the flights of my very first trip were on a WN operated 727, because that trip occurred during one of the two brief periods when WN was operating a few leased 727s. I was also able to reconstruct the registration numbers for most flights since 2000 that I had flight numbers and dates for, thanks to the various ACARS sites and the BTS website. Changing topics, The Box is now on page 100! |

Sweet. He has FRA-WDH (presumably on SW). I want that flight. I'll have to settle for CPT-WDH in July.

Yep. Windhoek. It's inland in rolling hills. I really want to get out to Swakopmund, which is a coastal beach resort right smack in the middle of the Namib Desert, along the Skeleton Coast. Get to try out an Air Namibia Beech 1900 from WDH-WVB (Walvis Bay). Beachfront mega-suites with jacuzzis for $120/night :D
My girlfirend has been saying how she wants to go to africa , the problem is that i really want to go to South Africa and Surf near Pt Elizabeth at a Place called Jeffrey bay . her answer was Absolutely Not ,there are great whites there !! So like the DL/NWA deal we hit a roadblock in the negotiations. Then i told her i would take her to South Africa in 2010 for the Soccer World Cup , again a big NO. |

Dunno if it would hold any sway with her, but The Burning Shore was good enough for Brad & Angelina. Also, instead of surfing amongst the Great Whites, you could sandboard the 400-ft dunes along the coast.
as far as teh great whites, they are there but J Bay is not known for many shark attacks , i think they call them blue pointers there. they do however tell you to avoid nearby Seal Point at all costs. |
I just want to say that this is my first (semi) drunk post to 'The Box'. While I have nothing of importance to say, I want to note that the tequilla shots in PVR are a wonderful thing to me right now.
I came back up to the room to log in to work and check emails, but fortunately, I convinced myself that that is not the best idea right now. Cheers to all! |
