Air & Space writer says depending on the atmosphere, contrails can run from 28k-40k.

Most likely it was Lufthansa or KLM headed to Mexico City. The LH flight is 498, but I don't remember KLM off hand.

Here is my contrail gallery, taken from my house in the Heights.

Not sure. It appeared to have a blue underbelly but that could have been the sun playing tricks on my eyes.

a JL 747 does make sense.

*A coverage to S. America is presently quite poor. Once CO and JJ join, and if CM partners-up as a regional member, *A will arguably have the best coverage in S. America (or at least equal to that of OneWorld).

It used to be all 763s. But I just checked and IAD-GRU and ORD-GRU are 777s. IAD-GIG and IAD-EZE are 763s.

There are very few 744s now and all of them are doing the PacRim with the exception of one doing SFO-FRA and the seasonal SFO-LHR.

They do not fly to Argentina from NYC
you have to go to Chile first

I wonder if that's on the CO "if we had more widebodies" wishlist.
