That's disgusting! :D

I wonder if National at BTR will let me trade my Malibu for a boat?

The old McNuggets had air bubbles in them. Meat should not contain air bubbles.

If air bubbles in the blood is the bends, what is the term for air bubbles in the meat? McBends?

I remember watching some expose once of a chicken farm that supplied either KFC or McDonald's. The chickens we kept in 1'x1' cages from shortly after they were hatched, six or more to a cage, until they were killed. They never left the cages during their short lives, and some of them "grew into" one another. They were not able to walk and many were beakless. Absolutely disgusting.

Hey Hartmann - still thinking about that McDonald's chicken sandwich for lunch today?

It's a possibility.

I mean, I eat veal.

I could post about my experience growing up on a ranch and the stuff we take for granted living in urban areas but I'll save it for OMNI.

Today I think I'll just have a salad and a snickers bar.

I too spent much time on the farm growing up, and to quote dear old granddad, "Some days you eat steak and some days you don't." ;)

Why is there a lack of Dunkin' Donuts in Houston? I've been to one of them, believe it or not, trying to redeem a gift card. Their terminal didn't accept the gift card. I know they are based outside of Boston (in the suburbs), and you'll find them all over the place up here in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic. I would be happy to invest in a franchise in downtown Houston or a couple in the medical center, where they are sorely needed.;)

Unfortunately, MOST chickens are raised this way in the US, not just those destined for McNuggets.

I actually like the fact that in Houston you'll find a lot of "mom & pop" donut stores. I tried a DD in Albany last month, and while the donuts were predictable, the coffee was horribly bland.

I think it's because we have a fair number of Shipley's (superior local chain), as well as a bunch of individually owned Donut shops. My neighborhood is chock-a-block with mom n' pop Donut shops, primarily operated by Vietnamese families. Houston has a huge Vietnamese population, and they (apparently) excel at making awesome donuts.

IIRC, there was an article in the Chronicle a few months back about Dunkin' Donuts wanting to expand into the Houston market with new stores. They used to have more stores in Houston back in the 1980s, but most are long gone. The only ones I know of are on Bellaire Blvd. in Bellaire, and out on Highway 6 in the Copperfield area.
