Yes, I agree.

The Toronto area can be pretty hot in July. I vote for the Pacific NW/British Columbia.

MilesDavis May 29, 2008 10:24 am

The IAH-SEA flights early July are around $900 for 2 all in. Not horrible.

OPFlyer May 29, 2008 10:24 am

It certainly cannot be as hot as south Texas where we are experiencing temps in the upper 90s to the 100s.

rolov May 29, 2008 10:25 am

What about doing Niagara-Toronto-Ottawa

I'm going to FLL for the 4th of July weekend, specifically arriving the night of the 2nd and leaving on the 6th, and am not finding any great deals on a rental car. The best I can get is a Pontaica G6 at Avis with my corporate rate for $183 with all taxes and fees. I realize it's a holiday weekend, but I figured it was the low season on FLL and the rental prices would be better. Am I missing something, or out of touch on rental prices?

Thats just kind of how FL car rental prices are for most of the year.

Thankfully only 89 today here in the festering pit. You've got less humidity down there in the Valley, but as hot as it gets down there...it doesn't really matter.

I like the Canadian Maritime provinces. Go drive around Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. Tickets are never cheap, though, and require connections.

rolov May 29, 2008 10:33 am

I went to Halifax a couple of times for work , all in fall/winter.
Flights were very expensive.

Thank you for the rental info ^

FWIW, my wife and I loved Niagara Falls, but we went in November without the crowds. :D I don't think that I would love it so much in season. The Niagara wine country is beautiful too and worth a visit to a few vineyards.

I really want to go to Halifax, or P.E.I., but prices have kept me away. I'll likely do it as an award redemption after the Honeymoon (once I know how many miles I'll have left).

I always want to go to Newfoundland & Labrador... Oh, right! I just need to fly TXL-EWR in the winter! ;)

This is going to be my busiest flying year since 2004, and it stands right now at a paltry 8K. It would all be on CO if not for the Disney trip back in Feb., which was my personal B6 experiment. I'm waiting to see the 08-09 NHL schedule, as my mother has some vouchers to burn and she has expressed interest in a Devils away game.

I have to agree with that, I did a lot of runs at the start of the year, but not much now. I don't really expect much though as it gets into the summer travel season. I have been looking at fares for the Astros DO in Aug and it is 326 ai ATL-IAH on DL (CO is in excess of 400 ). I may do UA through ORD for 340, if I can get some UA certs off of ebay for a decent price.

I may try to go infinite on UA, by flying then complaining about something and getting a cert to subsidize my next flight on them. The ATL-LAX in F fare seems to be gone, I can't get it to route through IAD anymore.

I really only want to do *A long haul as I do not have status on UA or US and riding in Y on those airlines seems sub-optimal when I can get upgraded on CO for the same route.

Summer is usually my slow season, as well, with usually no more than one trip per month and the occassional six week stretch with no flying.

With respect to UA, I don't think the gravy train is going to last much longer. Eventually, UA will either liquidate (unlikely, as of now) or be forced (perhaps through another bankruptcy) to finally install some quality control on its compensation systems. I give it about a year before they clamp down.

I just got myself a FREE Big Front Seat on SPIRIT AIR. I was messing arround and typed in GREEN in the promotions page and walah $0 each way. It even forgot to include fees and taxes. They did this about a month ago as well. Dont get your hopes up, after I booked the ticket the reservation system went down so who knows if it is still available (which is why Im telling you guys and not posting it on the MR forum)

Details below:
