The carrier already is seeing a "slight uptick" in travelers, said Mark Erwin, its president and chief executive. Since when is a <1% increase in traffic considered quick acceleration?? :confused:He expects that to accelerate quickly, with an increase of about 12,000 more people than normal during the next year. The carrier now flies about 1.5 million people annually. I didn't realize that they're going to put in a second runway...that is pretty cool. ^ |

Anyways, funny that the Chronicle article didn't say anything about the new 4th GUM-NRT flight. |

I need to make it out to the GUM hub, on the island hopper of course.

I have been looking at some dates in August and an EWR-IAH-HNL-[island hopper]-GUM-NRT-IAH-EWR with a night in HNL, a night in GUM and a few nights in NRT can be had for around $1600. Not too bad at all... Anyone know what the upgrades are like on the island hopper and flights between GUM and NRT? Are there usually chances for a companion upgrade? Also, I am guessing a seat needs to be available for the entire length of the island hopper in order to get an upgrade? Does that mean they sometimes go out with empties up front and elites in the back? |

As for upgrades, on the GUM-NRT flights, if you're on one of the 764s, they should be plenty. When I flew it back in Dec, half the BF cabin was empty and i had an entire row to myself. On the other hand, the 738 on the way back was full. |

I was wondering about the upgrades on the hopper as well. |
