I had an employer once ask me to write them a personal check for an error on their part.
In addition to the person being overpaid, it also overdrafted the account that I draw payroll out of, which set-off a series of bank generated fees. When I got back in town and noticed the error I asked the payroll vendor (PAYCHEX) if they would reimburse me for the financial hardship they placed my organization under because of their mistake. Their answer was no, they don't take responsibility for their mistakes. The employee, sensing I was going to ask them to reimburse me / deduct it from future payrolls, quit. They essentially took the money and ran. Now, legally, I could go after them but the amount didn't justify getting a lawyer involved. So I was in double trouble. Finally, about 3 months later, we cleaned up the books. But, Paychex decided it would be a great time to migrate their online payroll to a new system, which wiped out the history of everything. Our little payroll problems triggered a state audit (we're a tax funded non-profit) and we had no documentation to back-up what happened because Paychex lost the paper trail. It opened up another 3 month can of worms. They key take-away on this is never use Paychex as a payroll vendor. Never. They suck at everything and they don't stand behind their (sloppy) work. I'm still bitter about the whole thing. In other news, I just confirmed that my raise wasn't an error. ^ |

And I'm totally with belynch on the selective editing thing: if someone can't write well, let their stupidity shine thru...it's a terrific tool for the other people.

I've had terrible experience with consumer printers from various manufacturers. I heard good things about Canon's PIXMAs so I got one and have been very happy with it. I've not had any issues with it. Occasionally the PC it's connected to stops seeing it and I have to reboot, but I blame Wind:rolleyes:ws for that.

I do payroll for the non-profit I'm involved in. What a freaking headache. There was a "fat finger" mistake on someone's check, on the payroll vendor side, that got them to overpay the person fairly significantly. Through a perfect storm of me being out of town, etc. I never had a chance to catch the report before the person got paid.

My pet peeve is two spaces after periods. That went the way of the dodo with the advent of the computer. I see that all the time. ssullivan, I know a few people that work for Paychex and they say it's not a bad place to work. They serviced my account flawlessly for about a year and one simple mistake set-off a huge headache. What aggravated me about the whole thing was the fact that they were quick to admit their mistake but refused to do anything to help rectify it. "I'm sorry" has very little tangible value. I ended up pulling the account from them. And if anyone on here uses Paychex, consider finding a new vendor. I wouldn't trust them with a Canadian quarter. |

A week later I got called into an office and got accussed of trying to steal from the company. I got a lecture on how I should have returned the check immediately and how this looked bad , and he did not know what he was going to do. After listening to his rant , I told him I had no Idea what he was talking about and then opened my bag and showed him the sealed envelope from Paychex and gave it to him . He opened it and insisted I should have returned as soon as I saw the error (which was at that exact moment ) |

At a previous job, they gave me my usual direct deposit , and then forgot to zero out the paystub. Of course I did not check the stub out , I had just verified the deposit online.

That alone makes me question their software. Any decent payroll system would not do this. There should be no manual intervention needed.

Not for just one, as the transit costs to BWI would be too much, I think. Of course, if you're willing to go on 2/28 and 3/1, you can double up. I'm booking now, with hope that rationalization will come later. At 2.2cpEQM and 12K EQMs banked it is a pretty decent fare for domestic. My only problem is that on day 2 I get to SEA too late to catch the EWR non-stop, saving me some Amtrak time/money.
Or Sat/Sun/Mon (arrive BWI Tues 11:30a) for a 3x run is also available. My bigger problem is that I'm going to drop from 125% to 25% bonus RDMs on 3/1, so those flights aren't worth as much. :( On the plus side, I'll be fully back to silver qualification on 3/1. |
