Actually, Priority Club's website is rather functional. It's nothing special, but I've never had any issues with it either.

The downside is unless you're staying in an Intercontinental, Holiday Inns are highly inconsistent and overrated in my experience. That said, they are quite generous with the bonus points. Guess they have to bribe people to stay there.

My only other experience has been with Hilton so I don't have a lot to compare to. Functional is the perfect word for Priority Club. No frills, does what it needs to do, but there's room for a bunch of improvement.

Generous? I find Hilton more generous and that's with me staying in Crowne Plazas with IHG though I've gotten some nice room upgrades at a few Crowne Plazas.

I forgot about Marriotts website since I haven't stayed in any of their properties in two years but I do like the map and the site is easy to use.

Hilton is generous in Europe on award stays. They're pretty darned stingy here in the US IMHO.

Drinking tonight. Are you guys going to be at La Carafe past 11? If so, I can stop in. If not, well... have fun. Do they have TVs there? The BCS game will be on late - past 11 tonight.

Sorry, no TVs there — they barely have electric lights.

I'm back at the DoubleTree downtown now.

That's where I've use my HH points but never tried in the US. I was trying to use my Priority Club points in the UK when I noticed how few I had considering how much time I've spent with them in the past two years.

I will only stay in an HI in Europe where they IMO they are always quite acceptable. That is not the case in the States where most of the HIs are, as ssullivan stated, too many times not something for the likes of us. As far as the bonuses are concerned, in four stays in France earlier this year, I piled up nearly 50,000 points, or enough to give me a big push toward retaining Platinum.

The problem with the HIs over there that is there frequently is an IC right nearby to tempt me with its open minibar. There are really not enough ICs in the US so that if you don't do business overseas, it is very difficult or impossible to retain status.

Even the Crowne Plazas in the US are not up to the standard of those in Europe but they are building an entirely new CP in one of my markets (Louisville) and I am determined to check it out altho by the time they get it open I will not be RA but merely an Ambassador.

Oooh, is that a bottle of rum over there...

Someone, please, toss a small shiny object in my path... anything to stop the inexorable path towards total self-destruction

I blame her too. But she's still awesome. And now I know who to look for at IAH. Always good to meet another FlyerTalker, especially a Penalty Box member, in person.

Why is it I always end up drunk when ALCO is around? You'd think after a couple of years of this madness I'd know better.

Oh well. I'm safely in my room at the hotel and my flight isn't until 4:00 PM tomorrow. I can sleep it off as long as I need too.

Oh, and unlike a certain Otter, I hear I'll be seeing baglady again in a few weeks at the CO Do.

Not quite. Simply the antithesis of an Oriental Small Clawed Otter. Long story, would likely require drunk posting...perfect for this thread, in fact. Unfortunately, my workplace does not stock booze (at least not where I can get to it), and I'm due to get off in a few minutes.

Shouldn't 'getting off' have its own post--especially in the context of flying.

Look, it's not my fault that the Panamanians need someone to foment revolution and upheaval. It has been over a decade since Noriega was battered into submission by loudspeakers, and with the property market in the toilet, the fair citizens of Panama need someone to shake things up down there. Once the Coup has been completed and I've taken possession of Copa as my private plaything, I'll be sure to invite you all down as my guests of Honor. We'll swing out to HAV in F and party with Raul.

Yep. It's a short distance from La Carafe to the DoubleTree. But the queen working the front desk here should be fired. He's an .... Seriously. He not only questioned me about my government contractor rate, but my 250 bonus HHonors points for having a car rental from National. I legitimately am eligible for both. I'm on State of Texas business this week, and I have a car rental from National. And no I wasn't about to go out to the car and chase down the valet for my rental contract to prove to this jerk that I'm eligible for those 250 HHonors points. This was the first time in nine years as a Hilton HHonors member that someone has asked me for proof of my car rental for those stupid 250 bonus points. At least he didn't change my rate. I'll deal with the 250 points when I check out tomorrow.

Oh, and he needs to lose the Abercrobmie & Fitch hoodie. This is a pretty nice hotel, and wearing that over his dress shirt and tie just isn't appropriate. Espescially when said hoodie is three sizes too small for his body.

Sometimes PL bids give you exactly what you want and other times they don't. This time, I didn't get what I wanted for my 1 night in Vegas later this month. :(

I was hoping for the Venetian or Palazzo but I ended up with the Trump instead. It looks nice, just not what I wanted. Oh well - I'll only be in there for a few hours since it's a short trip.

Xyzzy Jan 8, 2009 9:39 pm

How much did you bid?

The Indian dude that runs the National Counter at that Doubletree is stellar. I can't vouch for the staff at that hotel, though. The valets are dubious, at best, IMO...

Generous with bonus points. That's all I meant. It seems Priority Club is always running multiple bonus offers.

Hilton never gives you a bonus. NEVER. I think the current double bonus point offer from Hilton is the first HHonors bonus I've been successfully registered for since 1Q 2006. Yet Marriott, SPG, and Priority Club are always giving me a bonus of some sort. The difference between Marriott and SPG and Priority Club is that most of the time I actually want to stay with the first two. The bonus is just extra gravy. With Priority Club, they have some properties they couldn't pay me cash to stay in.

I got it for $70. Not the greatest, but I've been working up in $5 increments over the past few days and just wanted to get something booked.
