I requested a receipt this morning and it still has not come through.

There are definitely problems. I had a res disappear and it was a system glitch. I let Scott know and I've had other problems since then where the reservations don't come through.

Everyone must be hard at work :D

LAX was a breeze yesterday and the P Club was very quiet. Hoping today is as quiet at IAH. I'm unpacking and doing laundry from the last trip while packing for our journey today. Doing carry ons only, which is very unlike me.

I'm awake. I decided I would come into the office to try and solve a password issue that I am having with my computer and there is no one here and no one in our home office.

Should have just stayed home.

Ah well, the $90 in Starbuck's gift cards that we received come in handy for times like these.

If the roads are any indication of airport traffic, it may be a little heavier today than it has been the last few days.

Agreed.

About 75% of my (professional) job requires writing that is distributed to mass audiences. It's "an essential job skill," per my job description. I'm a former (read: reformed) copywriter and I'm writing a book. In short, I fancy myself an above average writer.

Unfortunately, when I go back and re-read some of the drivel I post on FT I'm ashamed at some of the very rudimentary mistakes I make. Then I realize that it's just an internet message board and I don't care. Sometimes I'll go back and clean up my posts, most often, I don't.

I got in a fight on another internet message board* because the mods were "cleaning up" another person's posts. I cried bloody murder at "selective editing" and argued that a person's grammar/punctuation/spelling mistakes demonstrate the cognitive ability of a poster and it helps the reader put the post in a clearer context.

I'll take someone a bit more seriously if they can clearly articulate their position as opposed to someone who sounds like a raving lunatic sanding on a corner preaching that chickens are the sign of the impending apocalypse**.

By the way, my literary kryptonite is affect vs effect. You can explain it to me 1,000 times every day, but for some reason it just won't stick in my brain.

-sigh- A friend of a friend read it on the internet, it must be true.

I have an escape clause, I was not born in the US, so Ingles is my second language.

Bummer. I was having VPN issues this morning, but eventually got logged in. I always hate having to call our help desk!

Nice! ^ I got a Keurig coffee maker and it actually turns these little coffee cups into a decent cup of coffee. Dealing with ground coffee and filters to make an entire pot was getting annoying.

Define awake. ;)
Hmm, should I go to Ikea to find something for what I call the Ikea room in my house? I could park far out in the parking lot and slowly walk in and watch the planes take-off from EWR in the process.

According to my paystub I apparently just got a raise, unbeknownst to me. :D

Nice way to end or start the new year ^

I woke up early and made breakfast for myself. Got dressed and then made lunch to take to work. All was going well until I got to work and the elevators to the building were locked down. I called my boss and she just called back 45 minutes later and left no message (I was on the phone). Why must going to work be so hard.

Well they decided to take it easy so will be working from home today.

Just wait until they find the error and try to take it back. :p

Speaking of employers and money, a coworker once spent a minuscule amount over the per diem meal allowance (lets call is $5) and had to spend two hours figuring out which forms to fill, fill them out and write out a check to the company.

My Christmas haul included two Dunkin Donuts gift cards that total $50. Now I need to get dressed and get some coffee. :o

I had an employer once ask me to write them a personal check for an error on their part. I said, you can adjust the next check. She then came back and said if you fight this I will bring up another time that I overpaid you by 20 hours. In the end it worked out but what a mess. Both these situations were found by the accountant months later.

On a happier note I just noticed that I broke 1000 posts recently. I have a long way to go to catch up to most of yall!
