My flightmemory is woefully lacking in destinations and miles, but at least I've got every quadrant on the globe.

I'm only posting this because mackieman posted his and had less miles. :o I'm sure I have a ton of jfk-fll segments missing, so there may be 10K off it.

JFK-PPT? Air Tahiti Nui?

Actually, come to think of it, I believe PTY is already on the S. American side of the canal. Crossing would actually take you back into N. America.

Ahhh I was not aware of this fact. Noted for future reference. ^^

Until I went out to Amador Causeway for lunch, I was thoroughly prepared to place PTY squarely in the "Suck" column. The Slums near the old town were so rough that I didn't even bother getting out of the car to snap photos, and the Multicentro was just meh. Lots of cool skyscrapers, but no real beaches to speak of, and the waterfront was all taken up with construction. Amador, however, turned out to be exceedingly pleasant. I could spend days there drinking cheap beer at the hole-in-the-wall restaurant by the yacht club, and watching all the big ships line up for the canal. Great views of the city's skyline, as well.

It's all good. The far more important point of order is to know when we'll both be there for golf.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to get down there yet this year. It's killing me.

I have a short trip planned for mid-June and then a longer trip in early July. With the wedding shortly after that, I probably won't be back down for anything longer than a weekend until Thanksgiving. :(

Yup. Back in 2005 when they launched service and, IIRC, had daily service. Both flights were so empty it was beautiful. I was a total newb and didn't get any points for them (which would have been limited to AA at the time I think). :o:rolleyes:

I have seen some amazing reviews of the pacific coast.

True. The islands are supposed to be phenomenal. They even have some overwater bungalow hotels at some of those locations. PTY itself though has some seriously  areas. It should be much better once they finish remodeling the waterfront by the InterContinental Hotel.

Nope, gotta say hi to Joan Wilder and make it all the way into Colombia. The southern side of the canal is generally still considered Central (North) America, though according to wikipedia, It's probably open for debate.

To make things futher confusing, PTY is north of the canal, but on the southern side. When you cross from the "Northern" side to the "Southern" side you go northeast. Also, the Pacific Ocean is east of the Atlantic Ocean.

It was called the Republic of Gran Colombia , then just part of Colombia until 1903 .

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do with a day in Lima, besides viewing the historic center?
