Thrifty is quite good IMHO and is generally much cheaper than the others. I've never had a beaten up old car. If you've not tried them in a while you might want to check them out.

I've used them once and got a Maxima with 1,500 miles one it. ^

Any SoCal Boxers around for lunch next Thursday when I am at SNA?

I am pretty sure I am unfortunately unavailable (bloody work), but if something changes I will fire a PM at you.

I actually get no rewards because of my AWD. But the savings are sufficient to continue using it.

AZ. They will never die, even though they should.

I'd rather have a larger plane than the fuel stop.

The plan was announced over a year ago. And the A318 actually got special permission to use the airport IIRC. Up until I actually flew out of LCY I thought that the route had no chance. Now that I've done it I think that they'll do just fine on the flights. Clearing in SNN and being "domestic" on arrival is a huge plus. So is the ease of check-in and access to LCY once you are actually there. The ease of getting there is an added bonus, but as noted only ~10-15 minutes.

Still, I think that the LCY route will do fine. Of course, that assumes that LON-NYC premium cabin traffic numbers hold up at all, which is questionable right now.

I think it is well worth it IF you consider the reduction of hassle at the airport and if you are going to/from the Financial District. I was simply shocked at how easy it was compared to LHR and even LGW. I made it to my clients office in less time that it usually takes to clear HM Immigration. Plus, LCY has a great bar in the departures lounge and it took me less than 5 minutes to pass through security.

Exactly.

Absolutely not, at least in my mind.

Yeah...that one has always been hard to wrap my head around. One passes west to east to go from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

OK!

I suppose LCY-NYC is an attempt at replacing the convenience of the Concorde for TATL. Certainly not the speed, but overall trip time.

Outbound, the last time I cleared immigration and security at LHR (T1 Fastrack for BD), it took five minutes. Using VS fastrack during peak times, it has never taken more than 15 minutes to clear. Inbound LHR, using fastrack at T1, T3, and T4, I have never spent more than 10 minutes or so clearing immigration/customs.

Westbound from the City to the US, I just don't think LCY is that much more convenient than LHR when you factor in a stop at SNN. Eastbound, without a stop, it definitely is more convenient.

I'm so glad my UG cleared out of LAS this morning - I was using dollar coins as tips, ran out of a roll, then got change for a few nickles so I could continue to drink

LGW was never terribly convenient (although I still liked to use it) because it had no fast track immigration inbound and after the liquids ban had spottily functioning fastrack security and immigration going outbound. Victoria definitely is more convenient to the City than Paddington, but the extra 15-30 minutes on the train (depending on which train you took) offset part of that conveninence.

That stinks.

I would check ebay for more. :p

I was wondering where you had disappeared to. How went LAS?

Is there pre-clearance in EDI on EDI-EWR flights or does one still go through passport control/immigration in EWR?

I'm trying to figure out if a 1.5 hour connection is doable.

No and probably not.

SNN/DUB only IIRC.

Yep. It's in SA's funky 2-3 Domestic F on the 738. Tickets were $333 apiece if paid, so I just opted for 15K apiece miles.

Why do that when you can take a 342 on the same route?
