If only FT signature lines could be this long or a little longer, because all you'd need to do is throw in some crack about Hawaiians speaking English and having no need to learn another language to jump that status tier.

I'm using my HI run (next week) to jump well more than a status tier. I "had" to buy a $600 B fare for three times flight miles. However, that B fare was purchased with the recognition that:

* I was in F when I booked, and
* I'm taking the long way there for more EQMs and VDB opportunities.

Honestly, everyone stops in DTW, CVG, and LAX on the way to KOA, correct?

I think the ironic footnote in this is that I don't even begin to know a lick of Italian but will be living there for a week and am not really concerned about learning it.

That would be like a CO run going PHL, EWR, CLE, IAH, LAX, HNL :D

totally off topic but you know every time I see you post this vision of kraft "EZ cheese" in a can haunts me!

Once as a child I was out hunting and took a can of that stuff with a small package of crackers as I was going to be in the stand for about 3 hours past the morning waiting for my pickup, and the thing exploded all over me!

With a 6 month old, I am now looking at getting life insurance. $500K should suffice. Now, whether to get term or whole. If term, how long... 20, 30 years? Hmmm... choices, choices.

ssullivan, I'd like to hear/read your overall impressions on the inflight wifi.

I have no idea. I had already paid before I went to nwa.com to check on my flight situation. I was on FT, Facebook, Twitter, and Pandora before I thought about checking nwa.com (this was a NW booked ticket) to see if I had been rebooked.

I actually almost made it to the original flight. I showed up at the gate just as they were closing the aircraft door. Two minutes earlier and I probably would have made it.

Nah - she's lucky that I'm not watching the Golf Channel.

In other news, I'm seriously considering if I should apply for a network planning job with G4. Nope, I've never done network planning but for playing AM...however I can't imagine that I would be up against a huge pool of experience...plus there would be work travel and I'd be based in LAS.

Since you mentioned EZ Cheese, there's a story I've been meaning to post here but had forgotten to. A week ago Sunday, I was flying LAX-IAH on CO, and my esteemed partner was flying LAX-ATL on DL. Since we were checking in at different terminals, we said our goodbyes on the rental car bus at his terminal, and I rode on to the CO terminal. After clearing security, I had over 90 minutes until my flight, so I decided to surprise him by going to the DL terminal. I get to his gate, and he's nowhere to be found, and I can't find him at any other gate. So I waited around by the security checkpoint after realizing that the DL terminal had an incredibly long security line. Sure enough, a few minutes later he appeared, and was quite surprised to see me there. He was quite frustrated with the whole mess at the DL security line, which included the man in front of him holding him up for several minutes. The guy apparently had a can of EZ Cheese in his carry-on bag, along with a tube of Ritz crackers. Of course the TSA confiscated the spray "cheese" after which a huge argument started while this guy insisted that he should be allowed to take it on the plane for his in-flight meal. This guy also accused the TSA "officer" of wanting to take the EZ Cheese just for her own consumption, and apparently he even yelled at everyone "Go to the damn store and buy your own damn cheese. I paid for that and you can't have it." He was taken to the side to have a private conversation with several TSA people while the rest of the line started moving again.

It was fast — amazingly so. Better speed than I get at most hotels. The price is too steep. I'd rather pay a lot less, or at least have an option for roaming partners, since I have access to both T-Mobile and AT&T hotspots, as well as their roaming partners, through my wireless and home DSL plans. Overall I was really impressed with the service, and hope CO will roll out something equally good, but at a much cheaper price, at least for elites and first class passengers.
