Mexico may be fine for MR (though CO is cutting capacity), but I won't go to HKG for it right now.

They found one person who arrived from Mexico via PVG with H1N1, and now they're quarantining everybody at the Wan Chai Metropark Hotel for a week. They're also looking for passengers on MU505 from Row 20-26.

For a flu that seems be treatable and low mortality (at least for all cases outside Mexico so far), that's pretty draconian.

Stupid drivers. I'm upstairs in my bedroom catching up on shows on the DVR while the baby sleeps. Someone runs the stop sign on my street and I hear the collision. A Toyota Camry vs. a Chevy Tahoe. The paramedics came for the driver of the Camry, though she'll be okay. Front ends of both vehicles were damaged. I believe the Tahoe ran the stop sign. Windows at home were closed, no chance to wake the 6 month old from her nap.^

So?

I wouldn't be surprised by any modern OS running several years without reboots.

I just hate it when people make stupid comments that have no basis in reality.

I like linux, freebsd, netbsd, and windows, I use them all extensively and yes they all work very well and are rock solid.

This is the only thing apple has going for them, you don't have crappy dell machines running OS X (officially) they control the hardware so it can be more stable, most "windows" problems stem from pathetic hardware, that OS X if installed on would also crash endlessly. While many people hated it, and it jacked up the prices of mac computers, closing down the mac clone shops was a good move to keep the quality high. I also build my own computers from hand picked hardware :)

Are you implying that I made a stupid comment that had no basis in reality? If so, I'm curious to know which one.

At least we agree on something. :D

I should also clarify that I am in no way trying to start a Mac vs. PC battle. Such debates are just pointless as everyone's experiences and needs are going to be different.

Dunno - haven't been there in years!

But I do love me some Indians Game Day Weather! :) ^

Don't get me wrong - OS X certainly need a reinstall every few years as well. In my experience (and that experience will certainly differ from person to person), a properly installed/maintained OS X install "lasts" several years longer than a properly installed/maintained Windows install.

I have used a Mac since the first PowerMac, circa around 1994. I used to have to reinstall OS9 or the earlier OS X for one reason or another every few years. But no reinstall on my 3-year old Intel iMac (shipped with 10.4, and now 10.5); and my mom's old upgraded G4 has been rock solid since 10.4.

I felt like 10.4/10.5 with Intels have been a lot stabler than previous Macs.

A  e-mail of the day. NY State Board of Regents sent out an e-mail
with a link to their site so that provides access to information about preventive measures and links to other sources of information about treating the (H1N1) virus.

Where the hell (in Beachwood) is Capers? I've never even heard of it.

sure

With Windows, a yearly format and reinstall is imperative.
simply bogus. The only people needing a yearly reinstall are the porn addicts that download all the 'free porn' sites softwares and 'offerings'

luckily I haven't been in the PC repair business for the last 5 years, I got more than my share of  from this, and people complaining about $500 international phone bills for their 'free porn'

Wow - talk about "a stupid comment that had no basis in reality".

I'm done. Like I said, Mac vs. PC battles are pointless so I will agree to disagree with you.

oh it was more reality than I cared to handle sometimes :) It happened even at a church once.....I was  on how exactly to handle that one

other issues can be fixed, from bad drivers to badly uninstalled software without a reinstall, and not too painfully. Bad hardware can be changed :)

As for OS X, we will disagree, and agree to it, just don't act it as the savior to all the computers of the world.
