I am a very experienced windows admin, I have met few that know anything about windows even those that are MCSE certified, they hand those out like candy canes at christmastime. That is a major problem with MS, and increasingly with RedHat, certifications are worthless.

No, I don't think I've ever said Windows is evil and nor do I believe that. As with everything, it has it's place. The problem is these days people want to take an item that is excellent at doing foo and have it do bar just as well.

I think Windows is a great Desktop OS and Exchange has done wonders for communication.

As for certifications, I couldn't agree more. True sys-admins are a dying breed and it really is a direct result of the Windows and Linuxes of the world. There are enough admins who believe that playing on a linux box for two years in a dorm qualifies them as a full-fledged admin.

I've seen the same on linux now, and all the 'control panels' and 'wizards' for linux it is getting worse there by the day. OS X and FreeBSD will see their day in the inept admin spotlight in the coming years, without a doubt. There will however still be groups of people that really know what they are doing and be able to run it properly.

My biggest beef with Linux is a) how it promotes idiots to become admins and b) the lack of consistency from distribution to distribution and version to version.

Their attempt at dynamic device mananagement in the 2.6 kernel was a joke and i had a few customers that kept losing tape drives and other devices.

Not driving anyone crazy, not me anyway.

Seeing as how the box motto is More is More and you'll banish yourself to the box, that means you'll have to post more. :D:p

I just love it when the Chelsea cheese grease clogs the arteries on the AVOD systems that then show linux on them as well, then they offer to have virtual interfaces plugged into the tty.

No worries. Much more tech-talk, and I was gonna bust out the Immigration and Nationality Act. It's even more fun than the Internal Revenue Code.

It's always hot in the PCs. I think CO is trying to balance the budget by cutting back on air conditioning.

The E PClub at IAH is always so hot and humid when one walks in that it feels like the entrance to an indoor swimming pool area. That is one of the many reasons I hang out on the third floor, where it always seems to be cooler and much quieter.

I bet Relief from Removal and Jurisdictional Thresholds to Judicial Review of Final Orders of Removal could win me a CX F roundtrip.

You should have experienced the outside humidity here yesterday afternoon, just after it rained. It was like being smothered by a sweaty man-hippo. I was a dripping wreck after walking about 12 blocks roundtrip.
