Olton Hall May 2, 2009 4:59 pm

My thoughts on the new Yankee Stadium from the upper deck. It's nice. You can see but you you are way up in the air. Food prices way too high. I feel sorry for the roveing vendors as people aren't buying much from them. When you are seated it feels simular to the old stadium which isn't necessarily a good thing. I'm also bothered that the outfield wall is in Delta blue and not Yankee blue. Score boards confusing. The lower deck behind home plate and the luxury boxes empty. Speakers are tinny but at least they are clear. The giant elevators like the ones in the London Tube are great.

Thank you CO. The BF concierge just snagged me out of coach and moved me to BF.

Great start to this MR :)

sdm1130 and I hate you. :p

We watched the BF concierge come on board yesterday and take two people to the front cabin. I know that there is no system in place for how they choose people... I'm wondering if it's just where people are seated or status.

Dunno... They were oversold by one... Maybe CO*?

Now I can save my drink coupons for you guys tomorrow :)

See you at FRA!

That's disappointing but safety is important.

It's a situation where one is walking and "oh - that's Bill Gates next to me" - an odd enough happening - and then realizing "this reporter is really stunning".

I know when I choose people to OPUP, I pick by status and ticket cost. When I run out of that I find nicely dressed people and elderly people.

I will be in EWR at the Shogun mini-DO. I'm doing a non-rev version of a MR. I'm leaving Sat 5/30 in the morning and then returning to SFO Sun 5/31 and then going to work.

Sorry I'm going to miss you.

Oooohhhh, that is awesome. Congrats!

I'm exactly two weeks away from my flight to FRA, where such things will definitely *not* be happening, LOL...

On my way out to a benefit/auction for the school where I work. Taking advantage of the free tickets/open bar/etc. :D none of the other young faculty are apparently going, so I guess it's time to schmooze, work the room, etc. Good times.

So what if some shmo comes up to the gate and says "If you are looking for people to upgrade, I'd like to volunteer". Does that work? Because I hear a lot of people say it does. I don't necessarily believe that though (especially on CO).. but you are the authority. :D

Never works with me or anybody I work with. We don't give away the upgrades unless there is a really good reason for it. The sob stories don't work and I've heard them all.

Now I will say that we did have a guy that joked around with us all and offered us fancy candy and hinting around that he'd like an upgrade. We did need to bump someone up and we check the price he paid for his ticket, and he was better dressed than most, so we did give him the bump up. But that was after all the Elites (even on free tickets) had been upgraded and the full fare Y or close to it had been taken care of.

Moral of this story is:
Be nice
Be well dressed
Carry great candy/chocolate ;):D

The GAs on a flight I took last year to PHL (with 8 F empty) OPUPed two men in uniform (Army), and a couple on a honeymoon (connecting at PHL on USeless to Europe).^ I would fail your nicely dressed look. I always wear whatever is comfortable, mostly shorts and short sleeved shirts - especially during the summer.
