After missing my connection I headed back to the sushi place in Terminal A at DTW. While eating I witnessed a woman who was traveling with her obnoxious little yappy dog shut it up by feeding it sushi. With chopsticks. The same chopsticks she was eating with. And yes, after doing this, she used resumed using those same chopsticks for eating the sushi herself. She then proceeded to order more sushi, about half of which was consumed by the dog. And all of it was served to both herself and the dog using a the same chopsticks. Everything about that was just so wrong.

Between this and that guy on the CRJ who said that the airline needed to learn how to wash heavy equipment when the plane was being de-iced, I don't know how you manage to drag yourself into airports several times a week. The stupidity that you witness in a given week must be astounding.
ETA: Link added for those not familiar. There's also the guy at IAH a couple of years ago where the TSA confiscated a six pack of really cheap beer he had in his carry-on. That was followed by him telling the TSA "What the f*** am I supposed to drink on the plane if you take my beer?" I see all kinds of crazy crap traveling. And what I don't see, my partner or my coworkers see. Yet somehow we all manage to drag ourselves back to the airport all the time. Somehow the elite perks, lounge membership (fortunately is reimbursed by my employer), and lots of upgrades make it all bearable for me. |

The craziest thing I think I've seen so far since the modern era of the security checkpoint was when I was going thru at the new and improved PHL D/E checkpoint for the Party Flight. The woman who loudly insisted that her bouquet of balloons get past the checkpoint was answered in fine fashion by the TSA: they put the balloons thru the scanner, complete with an ossifer marshaling the balloons by inverting a plastic bin and pushing the recalcitrant balloons into the X-ray.
God as my witness, those balloons came out of the X-Ray machine smaller than they went in. |

That would be like a CO run going PHL, EWR, CLE, IAH, LAX, HNL :D

The best thing about missing a connection? When your 50% EQM fare class gets rebooked into full Y, and you get 150% EQMs. :D Too bad it's on such a short flight. But I'll gladly take 750 EQMs for DTW-FWA over 250.

With a 6 month old, I am now looking at getting life insurance. $500K should suffice. Now, whether to get term or whole. If term, how long... 20, 30 years? Hmmm... choices, choices.
ssullivan, I'd like to hear/read your overall impressions on the inflight wifi. |

I'm lookin at full-fledged Parisian French though.. I'm debating between using the few phrases and such I know and playing the dumb American card for sympathy.. or actually studying between now and June (when I'll be subjected to the French for a full 30 days).
I think the ironic footnote in this is that I don't even begin to know a lick of Italian but will be living there for a week and am not really concerned about learning it. For the price of rosetta stone I could fly MCO-EWR-HNL-EWR-MCO and jump a status tier in less then 48 hours. |

What's up with the recent proliferation of 52 watt (light) bulbs? I'm seeing them everywhere lately, and have never seen this option in the store.
I blame Ikea. |
I am SO tired of the US media.:mad:

Am I the only one that noticed CO's new offering in Y? It's a turkey hot dog in a croissant type bun. Not terrible, but definitely not a significant amount food.
I know most of you sit upfront all the time, so maybe I'm the only one that noticed. ;) :p |
