hmm good point,
I guess that's just another one of those things that can be negotiated. Like I said I've never leased-just assumed with all the ads I've seen they all say XXX Dollars at lease inception, that some money had to change hands

New Jersey does not believe that homeowners have the right to defend their domicile. Just remember boys and girls: when seconds count, the police are minutes away.

The trouble I am seeing now is leftover hours on the longhaul routes.

I just ordered another 734, and the three on order will likely flesh out my domestic plans for now. DXB will get more attention once I have the domestic structure in place to the point that it's making money to cover the crappy utilization that DXB gives me.

Morning, Box.

Having DXB as a hub may not be the best choice in this particular setup. I found that the international routes were not nearly as lucrative as a strong domestic route network, which is why I have hubs in DEN, IAD, and AMS. I think we have too few cities reachable by anything but 757 and widebody aircraft for DXB to be really profitable.

As to the issue of leftover hours on international aircraft, I have taken a page from the CO playbook and started booking them on shorter regional runs between their international legs. This is why my route map looks a tad spastic. For example, I have a 757 fly from IAD to LGW, then setup an AMS - LGW route to use the same aircraft. Almost all my planes, including my bank of ATRs, have less than three hours available.

Now if I can just get notabob to stop competing so fiercely with me. :D We have a very Southwest-esque fare war going on in a couple of markets. It is continually driving fares down while we both attempt to keep loads up.

Morning, Box.

I am fast becoming the Frank Lorenzo of AM. I'm neglecting my little airline lately. It takes much more time than I thought. Maybe I can get back into the saddle tonight and make the effort. :o

What they're thinking:

Customer. Why must you pollute our phone lines with your inferiority? Our system is perfectly designed to allow for a seamless business relationship, until you entered into the equation.
What the key takeaway for all parties should be is:

The expression - equally valid in my Maryland days - was "I would rather be judged by a jury of 12 than be carried by 6". Maryland is just as  as NJ in some respects.

Speaking of which, I didn't announce my results from Saturday at the range. I put 214 of 215 shots on target, ranging up to 15 yards. The shot I missed was from 7 (yeah, I know) yards ... And dude next to me with his brand new .45 was making me look like a scatter-shot.

And I bought a new Glock, which also happens to be my first 9 mm.

colpuck Apr 6, 2009 9:16 am

I am taking in money hand over fist on my domestic routes, such to the point I see no need to start flying internationally at this time. I'll probably go international when I run out of domestic routes to start.
