Does that involve anything like free refills and unlimited expiration dates?

I think CO should offer elites stuck in the Y cabin one free drink per flight. If CO moves to cashless cabins with CC/UPC scanning handhelds, it could achieve this by either (1) printing one bar-coded drink coupon at the kiosk, or (2) scanning the elite's FF Card onboard.

Wouldn't it have to be the printed coupon? I imagine the handheld scanners don't have an active connection to a database that determines if you've already had your one free drink or not. Though I suppose the software in the handheld might be able to remember it for that particular flight.

It's been nice the few minutes I've been outside. Unfortunately, other than a pool party tomorrow night where I get to host some games, I'll be inside helping to run a conference pretty much the entire time.

Ensure that you get the engine upgrade when you purchase 735s. That extra million in upfront cost gives them transcon range.

I try to make sure I look at that for each purchase. I usually boost my 763s but have also found that many routes do not need the full range and they do not seem to take cargo in to consideration.

Annoying, but there is actually nothing the phone folks can do about it anyways. Calling them is really just an exercise in frustration and futility; not worth the wasted breath.

I am going to try and talk with the gate agent here in phl about it, if not then PC in houston.

With tech where it is today, it shouldn't be too hard to program one of those scanners to remember whether it had already scanned a FF Card during the course of a flight. Then again, the info would have to be shared amongst all scanners onboard to be effective. Coupons might be the best alternative, but the FF Card option saves CO printing/paper costs.

The other problem this creates is if someone decides to save a coupon for a future flight. Do you really need to use the coupon on the BOS-EWR leg of your BOS-EWR-LHR flight? Most people save it for the long haul where it would be more useful.

WN printed out a drink coupon for me when I checked-in. There is no reason CO couldn't do the same.

Just print the coupon on the board pass and the FA can then cross it out or collect the coupon.

The two things that the game does not glaringly take into consideration right now are cargo business and non-pilot salaries. Those labor costs you see are only for piloting.

WN usually cares less about the drink coupons unless it is bartered on eBay. Coupons with the BP usually have a two to three month expiration date so one can easily PDF the file and print every time they take a flight that is not a Business Select fare.
