Exactly. I think part of what's in that box are the emergency recovery disks for my now ancient desktop computer. At the time it was new, it couldn't boot from the CD drive, so creating a recovery disk required several 3.5" disks. I'm almost positive that's what's in that box, plus probably a couple of blank ones. That computer will soon be retired though, as the motherboard seems to be failing.

I'd keep two stashed away just 'in case'

DelNorTalia Aeroline is announcing the sale of its Boeing 737-500 aircraft - four of the five are currently on the market, and the fifth will be put on the market tomorrow. Prices are in the 5% below appraised range.

You don't want to see my office then. And at home I have some data cassettes.

Well, only as long as we have that computer, which I'm hoping won't be much longer. Once it's gone, we won't have a computer that has a 3.5" drive. No sense in keeping any of them after that. I might hold onto one though just as an antique, although it won't be nearly as antique as the boxes of 5.25" floppies that are in my parents' house that go with the old 386 machine we got in 1990 when I was in high school.

I've already given away my ancient computer that I was archiving and extracting drives from earlier this evening (craigslist and freecycle are good for something).

What are they good for anyways? They don't have range, they don't hold many passengers... Not to mention, no IFE and only 8 FC seats

They're great when you live in or travel to places like ATL and MSP and it's either a 735 or an ERJ!

Yep. We have a whole assortment of computer parts and cables that are going on Craigslist and eBay very soon.

I like having a few around. You never know when you'll need to load RAID drivers on a Windows server you're building.

If you need some more or think that you might in the future, I have a box with about a dozen of them at our job in Northern VA and can send them up to you.

I also have a USB A floppy drive on that machine since one of the programs we were using did not upgrade from a DOS version until last year.
I need to keep that until I know that I no longer need the backups we kept on those floppys.

I bought one too -- knowing that by doing so I would never need to use it.

And more than one Middle Eastern carrier at that - I did that same route on Emirates a couple of years back.

He even Tweeted about it, questioning why anyone in this day and age would still have them. I had actually forgotten they were in there, but have made him promise he won't toss them out until I can make sure there's nothing on them I need.

Then please don't tell him about all of the 5¼" diskettes I have upstairs in the shrine de C=.
