Thread locked at the moment. IIRC when the NW FA's chimed in a few years ago they had much more compasion from many in FT as they approached their issues with a different tactic, well except those who wanted to be served hand and foot with full sense of entitlement thinking that everyone should be super dupper great at their jobs and the slightest of slight mistakes was ground for dismissal and of course other airline employees and pilots who gave them grief.

There is no legal argument for that suggestion and it would be tossed out in a heartbeat.

I've dealt with that kind of threat on a number of message boards and was actually contacted by "a lawyer" that papers were being filed. :rolleyes: The papers never showed up...

True -- but it's no "grayer" then the game the airlines play with overbooking; it's just the other side. Plus there's always a chance my business meeting might not actually cancel and I will have to take the flight. :cool:

Anyways, the airline's making a bet - and more than willing to leave behind a customer - to score as much revenue as possible. If they're willing to do so, they're going to have to accept the fact individuals will look maximize the system while staying within the COC.

Speaking of which I have a meeting in OKC tomorrow that might cancel.

Disagreement here. The "game the airlines play with overbooking" is no "gray area." It is neither unethical nor fraudulent because all are on notice that it happens, it is considered a legitimate business practice for airline companies, and procedures for dealing with it have been codified by government regulation.

OTOH, the practice of buying the Y ticket without any intention of traveling would almost certainly be considered fraudulent in any civil court action in the unlikely event that the airline sought to recover damages (including any coupons ever earned using this method). It is also possible that some DA somewhere would be happy to entertain a criminal complaint by the airline and cause you plenty of grief as he works to get his name in the newspapers and on television.

Thought about trying to take a pic with the iPhone but could not get it to work (they kept coming out blurry as I could not hold the phone steadily without giving away what I was trying to do...plus I think one of them had a bassoon. A bassoon! And as to how that got through the TSA I'll never know.

But anyways, I guess they dropped enough F-bombs to the point where they got a cart and scooted off too catch their flight at C-17, to LGA IIRC.

Yeah...been an interesting MR this weekend (TPA-DFW-ONT-DFW-DCA-DFW-ONT (currently) DFW-TPA); had a lady completely freak out, started screaming, flapping her arms, rocking in her seat...the whole 9 yards, when she thought her husband died in flight (it turns out he was only sleeping...guess people tend to do that from time to time.) Last night when I got to my room at the Sheraton there was a guy already in my bed when I got to the room...guess it's a new *W gold benefit, now if I could only figure out how to update my sexual preference at spg.com. But even stranger than that, the Sheraton was actually decent, the bed uncomfortable and the room decorated with something resembling this decade.

AA land is bizarre.

That's happened to before at a crown plaza. Apparently two Colpucks had reserved rooms that night.
