I'm as big a proponent of "You need to pay for quality and not take the cheapest fare by 5 bucks" as anyone, but CO is pushing my limits.

For my usual PIT-EWR run that's either same day or 1 overnight, they are now pricing that as a B fare as far as the eye can see -- $818 rdtrp on a Q-400. Seems the fare rules require a 3 night min now.

US wants $128 for the same run (PIT-LGA). Yeah, I know, US and all, but 800 bucks for a Colgan flight is hardly the lap of luxury, where I can at least get an RJ or occasional mainline on US.

Even though my employer probably wouldn't question it, there is no way I can feel comfortable spending company resources on that when there is a better, cheaper alternative. I could get away with 2 or 3 hundred bucks, but once you are past 2x, we're well out of the territory of kettle penny pinching on the airfare.

Gate Lice

(I'm surpised about all of the FT hits I had to that photo last week, talk about lurking deep in the Box to find that post)

What the hell is wrong with those people? Are their fleece sweaters too tight?

Thus is born the miracle of the code share and reciprocal earnings. Usually I can find a partner of some sort who is price matching.

:D My best friend couldn't believe it when I used that term. Whenever I talk to her from an airport she'll ask me "Are you in the club or have you lowered yourself to be with us gate lice":D

Glad to hear that about Tripp! I may never catch up on the box from this weekend so how was the trip with your aunt?

Anyone else watching/care about the Champions League final? As a neutral, this should be a good game...

I'm a good soccer mom....I was watching. Had to leave after the first goal, to pick up soccer son, and drove like a bat out of heLL back home to catch the second half. I wanted Manchester to win but it was a good game.

Even with my abject loathing of US, I would fly US and earn the miles on a partner airline. I'm still elite on UA for eight more months ...

The DL elite starts vomiting after reading that statement.

My boot, their butt. ^ I actually emailed someone in IAH to complain about how they treat their internal customers. I'm still angry about the whole thing. She did get on the next flight and got an aisle seat, with me telling her what to ask for, as I was talking to her on her cell phone.

Weekend MR now 3/4 in FC. :D

Still waiting for IAH-LGA to clear, but that has usually been a good flight for me.

I don't think there will be any bump opportunities this weekend. :(

I just posted in TS/S for the first time in I don't know how long. I need a shower.

baglady's husband. The fare and timing would have to be competitive of course, but with my other half so close to PHL, it does get hard to convince her to trek to EWR or to connect in The Hublet or IAH. She has now done all three of those things and isn't horribly opposed to any one over another, but she is very much a "just get me there" type of person. Perhaps more alarming, she is starting to get smart and ask about connections and PHL vs. EWR. IIRC she gave me a pretty positive response when I told her that by the end of the year she should be able to fly US and get CO miles.
