Are NJ and OH reciprocal states? If not, it's possible that no record or points will ever even show up. Maybe just pay the fine and slink away. Could actually be worse if you switch the license to NJ and then the points appear. (note: uninformed speculation on my part)

Places are hiring. I've been called by two headhunters in as many weeks for great jobs. You just have to be in the right sector (and willing to relocate).

This morning I found out there's positive momentum in getting an assignment in Australia, which would happen in the foreseeable future. This the on again/off again thing that's been the carrot in front of my face for the past three years.

All states except GA, MA, MI, TN, and WI according to Wikipedia. I knew about TN (but have no basis for worrying thus far).

Me too. It was so comedic. The instructor got all his jokes from the Internet. I had seen/read/heard them all before. I was  throughout the whole 4 hours.

NY does not pull points issued by NJ. ^

I don't know - will have to find out. Yeah...I've technically "resided here" since last August when I started my job. You're supposed to change within 60 days. Oops. FWIW, I live on campus, don't pay rent, etc...it's literally like living in a dorm. I wonder if the "my permanent residence is my parents' house in CLE" argument would hold up (I never changed it throughout college/grad school).

There's the agreement on paper and then there's actual practice. For instance, I have received tickets in NY, MD, and PA on my PA license, but only the PA ticket ever showed up.

Unfortunately, without a recent solid NJ/OH anecdotal it may not be a risk worth taking, though.

Is the reverse true, too? I once got a speeding ticket on the Thruway and never saw any change in my insurance rate. I even answered honestly when it asked if you ever got a ticket in the past three years. It was my only one ever, so maybe they let it slide.

There was a very strong reason for the "according to Wikipedia" proviso. ;)

Also, home states don't assess penalties if the out-of-state statute doesn't exist in one's home state.

I just finished a two-hour conference call about a job that I haven't been offered yet. Love the company, and I think I'm wanted there, but I can't seem to get an offer out of the CEO.

What kinds of relocations were you offered, belynch? If there's a hot area that I should be looking at, do share.

In honor of baglady, Platinum Airways has inaugurated daily nonstop service to Kearney, NE from Denver. Service will be provided with Platinum Airways' luxurious 19 seat Aero Hotter turboprop.

If your insurance company stood to make money, they didn't "just let it slide."

I guess there's no reciprocity between the two. In either direction.

One was in DC and one was in San Jose (). It's not so much the geographic region but more my discipline within a certain industry.

Oh wait, were you asking about my internal prospect? I'd probably manage the project from NY but would spend a considerable amount of time in Australia, based out of our office in SYD.

sfogate May 27, 2009 11:43 am

 being an internal customer sucks. My daughter is currently sitting in IAH waiting for the next flight to SFO because she patiently waited to hear her name called and the IAH GAs failed to do so using the mic.

The next flight is in 4 hours and it doesn't look good.

She now knows not to be a "good little standby customer".
