Here's to a day less wretched than yesterday, though it wouldn't be difficult to achieve that.

Almost no sleep...multiple work-related annoyances...and $130 worth of tickets from a 5 minute errand run: "running a red light/stop sign" OF WHICH I HAVE NO MEMORY...oh, and I happened to not be wearing my seat belt. :-/ NJ people, apparently there is a massive seat belt roundup going on these days - please don't make the same mistake I did. :(

I've only had one ticket before in my life (a turning violation at age 16) and am kind of freaking out...I assume I'm not in danger of license suspension, but does this sound like enough points to make my (currently quite reasonable) insurance rates skyrocket? I can't figure out whether it's worth consulting a lawyer and trying to do something about them or not.

Morning Box,

We had a freaking awesome set of thunderstorms roll through DFW last night - high winds, hail, torrential rain. I guess that's what they mean by a Texas thunderstorm. Awesome view out of my hotel room.

Other than that, nothing fun to report.

Didnt feel the same at 35000 ft last night as I returned to TUL!

G'Day, Box,

Off to Amtr:rolleyes:K it down to the city for a couple of days. Unfortunately, not long enough to stay for the mini-do. Hopefully, the rain lets up a bit so I can drive the natives nuts with a little t:rolleyes:urism.:D

If you're around at all and looking for a beer (or any other drink) over the next 10 days or so let me know. It doesn't need to be an official mini-do to get together.

Yep and I just got here 2 hours ago.

When do you leave? We're passing through this afternoon and will be at the airport or around (got a rental car) for a few hours.

Welcome back. At 1:11 in the air that would be shorter; and it looks like it might be only 12 miles, trumping my 13. :(

Thanks for the offer! :) I'll try to give you a decent warning if time frees up. I have to meet up with a couple of people so I'm not exactly in charge of my schedule.

Aloha Box.

Any hopes of me making the Shogun D:rolleyes: are now officially dashed. Sorry guys. I'm running to DC for a quick trip this weekend to support a friend.

I'm really angry at myself. I completely forgot yesterday was Taco Tuesday.:rolleyes:

Today is so-far-so-good.

All 3 airports are checking with "Sunny" forecasts and 10% or less rain chance for my departure to Paris.

If you ran a red light and weren't wearing your seat belt, and you want to fight, accept the seat belt and plead down on the red light. You probably don't need a lawyer for a traffic ticket in NJ, to be honest...unless it's nuts. An old boss of mine got ticketed for 102 in a 65 and didn't need an attorney, but a guy that I worked with in the Air Force got nailed for 82 in a 25. He sought representation for that, along with numerous favors from the many State Troopers that were National Guardsmen at that time.

ETA: A red light ticket might nudge your insurance up some, but a seat belt is harmless.

Off to listen to Scott and I have a conference call about a job at 11:00 - morning, Box.

Does NJ have those dreadful driver safety classes to remove points like NY does?

Does NJ have the "do community service (hours depending upon violation) for a first moving violation and have the record expunged"? Maryland did ...

KNRG May 27, 2009 7:37 am

Florida lets you do them online..

With all traffic tickets it's a matter of if the cop decides to show up - if they don;t, then it's dropped. My father (been street cop, detective, homicide, currently narc - i think) used to make it a point to show up for out-of-state drivers.
